Yale art major?

Yale is known to have the #1 art school in the nation next to Chicago. While yale is very expensive is it worth it to go there? because I don't seem to hear alot of people wanting to go to yale. Or is it because it is too hard to get into?

I think the #1 rank goes to it's masters program, which is why you don't hear much talk about it on the cc art forum, as most of the people here are looking for undergrad :)

fromstart, Yale does have a very strong undergraduate studio art program. Yes, it is VERY hard to get into as you need to have extremely high academic achievements as well as artistic talent. Some other colleges that have good studio art programs are Brown, Williams, Wesleyan, Skidmore, Hamilton, Conn College, Vassar. Smith if you are female.

All of these, including Yale, cost more or less the same. If your family qualifies you may be eligible for financial aid.

patois-Yale does have a undergraduate art program, but in order to be it in one needs to apply to yale school first. Then one's portfolio will be reviewed his/her sophomore year to be qualified for its art major.

momrath-Thank you for the list of universities. I'll keep look around for one that suits me.

Ah, I stand corrected!

however, the graduate program is what Yale is ranked #1 for as of 2003. It's actually tied w/ RISD and SAIC according to US news:

I don't think US news ranks undergraduate art schools, they're listed under 'unranked specialty schools'
