Yale bulldog days for admitted students

no problem

I agree with King. even if Byerly has made a few rather "offensive" posts in the past (though i've yet to see one.. at least one not matched by any other critical cc poster), he/she has given a LOT of really good info (and i mean, facts/articles/insight) on this forum.

i don't know how the heck you know and find so much material written about the admission process, but keep up the good (positive) work, Byerly! seriously, it helps a lot. =)

Due to a last minute change in plans, I ended up visiting Brown for the first time by myself. I'd never been to Providence, but I got from the train to campus with ease. There are a bunch of cabs by the train station, so it's no problem. The walk's uphill, but if it's broad day, I'd say go for it. I wouldn't recommend it at night, though.

OH MY GOSH!
I just got terribly confused and realized that I posted about Brown in a Yale thread! Wow, am I losing it.

To answer your question about YALE - the walk from the train is also about fifteen/twenty minutes. With no enormous uphill. Again, I think it'd be fine in broad daylight, but I wouldn't do it at night unless you know New Haven REALLY well. And even then...

Yeah, just get a cab or call Yale to see if there's any way your host can pick you up at the station. I also wouldn't recommend walking from the station...

I'm going alone. It was hard enough convincing my parents to cough up the three hundred bucks for the plane ticket for me, so they wouldn't have come even if I wanted them to.

The information on Diversity Dinner was included in this email I got through the student outreach thingie. Did everyone not get that email? (I'm Asian.) Also, when I registered for Bulldog Days, there was an option to arrive on Sunday night for Diversity Dinner.

I registered a long time ago, but I'm white, so I didn't get the email. And I must say that those of you going solo are incredibly lucky - my going solo was never even remotely considered. My mother is very protective and paranoid (and it's worse for me because I'm the youngest child and only son). I'm just planning to send her back to her hotel room by 11:30 so she doesn't see the late-night "festivities..." Hehe.

I would be going solo as well. I do know some other kids that have gotten in already though.

Two days ago, my parents dropped me off by myself to visit Rice while they went to Chinatown. I got so lost, wandering around alone, and I was the only kid at the tour that came alone. It felt weird.

Oddly enough, in other aspects of my life, my parents are super overprotective. I'm still not allowed to ride in cars that my friends are driving, and most of them are 18. I think my parents have this view that colleges are magical places where bad things can't happen. In China, college is where parents sort of hand the reins over to professors, so it's a much more sheltered and far less independent atmosphere than here in the States.

i got invited to diversity dinner and i'm most definately caucasian... so there's that.

i'm terribly excited for bulldog days, moreso than i was for christmas i think.

well, i'm out.

EA acceptance completely overshadowed Christmas, so I'm definitely more excited about Bulldog Days than I was for Christmas (and my birthday is three days after Christmas, so in most cases, that's hard to do).

how did u guys register for bulldog days... is it 2 late?

nope, not too late to register. i mean, RD acceptees haven't even received an invitation to bulldog days, yet!

but how do u register

thanks :) and for those that got invited to the diversity dinner when did u find out u were invited?

bump bump bump

i got an email about it and it was there when i registered online. why dont we make a list of CCers who are going to Bulldog Days?
