I am heavily involved in community service with Girl Scouts. While I list Girl Scouts as 1 hour a week, this is primarily meetings; I don't count hours spent outside of meetings in this summation.

I would like to apply to:

Swarthmore
U of Chicago
UVA
William and Mary
Yale
Middlebury
Macalester

I am sorry that I included so much crap... I just honestly don't know what matters and what doesn't. Thank you for your time, and I appreciate any advice or any words that anyone may have. I know that a great many of the schools I listed are reaches, but I would like any knowledge that you fellow ccers have to offer...

so thank you! :-)

Swarthmore - match
U of Chicago - match
UVA - low match ~ in
William and Mary - in
Yale - low reach ~ <<<high match
Middlebury - (not sure but)low match
Macalester - (not sure either but)low match

i think you’ll be this year’s “kid every couple years [who goes] to a top school” :)

one question, how did you finish your diploma in junior year? did you start in 10th grade???

and here’s my chance me link i love your title i should use it so people actually read and evaluate it. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/792948-chance-me-priority-nyu.html</a></p>

Your test scores are good, but nothing special. IB Diploma is impressive - good work.

GPA is flawless (obviously)

ECs lack passion/focus, but you have shown some leadership and a somewhat diverse skill set.

As for your uncertainty about what to put on your EC list, take off things that you did for a very short amount of time (Winterguard, Pit) or that were early in your HS career.

Remember, in the case of extra-curriculars, less is often more; choose how you want to “brand” yourself and make it pop.

I’d say

Swarthmore - Match/In
U of Chicago - Match/In
UVA - In
William and Mary - In
Yale - Reach
Middlebury - In
Macalester - In? (I don’t know this one too well)

If you draw attention to the rural element, it could bring up your chances. Good luck.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/742351-stanford-caltech-mit-etc.html</a></p>

Chance me?

Swarthmore - IN
U of Chicago - low reach/ IN
UVA - IN
William and Mary - In
Yale - Nothing sticks out TOO TOO much. but solid applicant, good chance.
Middlebury - IN
Macalester - Macalester is in.Ive had a few friends go here, but they said it was super liberal and felt too much like high school.

I have to agree with the above poster. While grades are perfect and test scores couldn’t be much better, I have to say the ECs are a bit lacking. But with that said, I’d say you have a pretty decent chance at Yale. (By decent I mean…like reachish). You should be in for all the other schools.

Good luck!

Chance me back?

bump…

Swarthmore match
U of Chicago high match
UVA match
William and Mary match
Yale reach (for anyone)
Middlebury match
Macalester not quite sure of this, but not knowing it well probably means its a match or a safety for you
