From what I can tell, only a couple bio courses that you could take in CS would meet any premed requirements so you would need to take quite a few courses outside of the major to meet your pre-med. (physics, inorganic and organic chem and possible biochem depending on schools you are interested in).

Math is my kryptonite. Science by extension. I’m in a higher level calculus course and the basic operations and algebra are still causing problems for me (6 years later…). Linguistics and language all the way!

@mathgirl21 and Rush10 and mig1623: I love calculus specifically taking Calc II at a college this year, and it’s soooo awesome Rush10, how have you already had multivariable!? I’m super jealous.

Curious: philosophy people, how did you discover your interest? I don’t know much about the subject since we don’t have philosophy in my high school…

@MisaMysa: whoo! I play oboe and piano! (and I march sousaphone, but I’m terrible!)

I’m thinking of taking a couple of courses in philosophy too. It lends itself well to the “who are we, really?” question neuroscience is trying to tackle as well.
I think I just got interested in it by a few friends who’ve taken philosophy, and have taken the time to discuss it with me… and also by reading books like Voltaire’s “Candide”.

I just love it when the sciences and the (liberal) arts find a way to intertwine. It just gives me so much hope for humanity.

Im interested in Philosophy as well. @ermsypermsy, I spent a year abroad in Italy, where I had a Philosophy class and absolutely loved it. Actually wrote my essay about lying in a park in Italy philosophizing. And then my supplemental essay about fish tacos, but I guess that’s irrelevant.

I have never taken a philosophy class before per se, but philosophy represents a sort of mindset that I’ve really identified with in high school. I go to a Catholic school, where I have gotten the opportunity to think about and assess some very fundamental concepts of religion and ethics, ideas I probably otherwise would not have considered in anywhere near the same depth. There was no one class, book, or whatever that suddenly made me interested, but rather just an accumulation of day-to-day questions and discussions that I had in school. I want to continue this in college (and as far as I know, a philosophy major would be one of the best ways to do so).

I’ve been having dreams too!! Although they’re all really good ones about admissions, if you know what I mean. Waking up has been tragic these past couple of days…

I don’t know how, but my dreams have been odd. Not only have they been connected for the last few days, but they have been like a British spy drama in the Korean War or something. Odd, but awesome!

I don’t remember the majority of my dreams.
There was one that I remember in vivid detail… I guess it’s 'cause the outcome was so positive. God, if only that happened in real life…

@classicgirll, me neither I’ve only had like one snippet of a college admissions dream that I remember, and I was rejected from some other school that wasn’t Yale.

So Ivy Day’s approaching… anyone made an online countdown yet? Are we doing a chat like we did SCEA, or is that insane with so many people?

Also, what other Ivies did people apply to? I’d be so much more nervous, except that Yale is my only Ivy school application.

@swimfreak001
That’s so cute! I might have to join you… ha ha
Even though four isn’t that epic of a number… Maybe I’ll try coloured paper or something.

The SCEA online chat was insane… but if anyone wants to set it up, I’ll definitely pop in. Are we doing it the night before decisions and the day of?

I would love to do the online chat again! Although I won’t be able to talk the day of, I’m getting a Skype pep talk from a friend who, coincidently enough, is a student at Yale.

Sorry to change the topic, but does Yale send out a e-mail with the link to access our decision, or do we log on to our Eli Accounts? jus’ makin’ sure :D
