I’m bio/pre-med; however, I’m very open to something else such as math or history.

@kendrickgirl, I might do gender studies too!

@leadbyeexample awesome. i hope the lgbtq scene at yale is good.

"i hope the lgbtq scene at yale is good. " Yale isn’t called the “Gay Ivy” for nothing. It’s LGBT scene is fine.

@guyinblue PS!

Well, I at first wasn’t all that sad when I was deferred since I was expecting it, but shortly afterword found it hard to move on. However, while writing all these other supplements with only Georgetown left to submit, I found myself realizing if I don’t get into Yale, it really be okay and there are many schools I’d have a fantastic time at. Of course, Yale will always stay my first choice with my priority reason being the community above else including academics, but I’m pleased to know I no longer feel Yale is the only place I can truly be happy (but still the place I’d be most happy )

Same here, Cedardog!

But I will try my darnedest to get in, haha.

:D I look forward to March. Could we just fast forward through February, please?

Honestly, I used to be 100% dead set on applying and attending CMU. Then, a little before junior year, I realized how pointless my obsession was since I didn’t even have set statistics yet. After slowly weaning myself off of a steady diet of Tartan, I started looking at other colleges I thought I might like and took a spontaneous road trip around the New England area with my dad over the summer as a rising senior. Now, I have a list of colleges that offer my intended major(s) (something in the biological sciences), and I would be happy to attend any of them no matter which one(s) I get accepted into. I mean, there are still a few on there that I sent apps to because I wanted to gift my mom as a thank-you for all of her support and care for me (the brat).

I’m still set on Yale, even after being deferred. No hope lost here! It’s great to see that my Mid-Year Report is in, that was also bothersome for me even though it wasn’t required for SCEA.

^ ALREADY!?

My counselor told me that grades won’t be posted until mid-January… sighs

@Guyinblue I plan on doing economics!

The fact that yales early admit rate was so low makes me slightly foolishly hopeful haha

Sent from my SGH-T959P using CC

how many schools did y’all apply to? i think i may have went a little overboard…

lucya, did you ever hear back from Yale admissions?

I applied to 5 :D. Probably less than average here on CC, but I’m still happy.

ram0276 - haha, so I wasnt wrong You will make for an interesting applicant, three diversities in one. sweet :O

Adodie, Cedardog, and Canadian - Hi5 guys/girls! I actually liked Yale’s Online Courses quite a bit thats what got me hooked on to the college’s econ dept. Anyone of your tried it?

Also, anyone have any idea what my mid year report should have since Im taking a gap year? What should my counsellor send in the transcript space? :S

@guyinblue funny story. So I thought, hey I’ll learn AP Euro from the European history course which lines up super well with the textbook an AP World teacher gave me (I’m taking it not as a class). So I was listening to the lecture while on a stationary bike, don’t really know what I did, sorta stopped too abruptly, but really popped out my muscle and threw the laptop off the bike…yeah that could probably go in a comedy. Moral of the story is…there isn’t really one but eventually my leg got into its normal placement and the laptop was not harmed in the process.

Something that’s pretty awesome (though for no reason a driving force to go to Yale) is they have their own city council seat for New Haven in Ward 1! Pretty cool for a political junkie like myself.

Cedardog - haha, i like stories like these Seriously.
I didnt know that. Fun fact haha, so Im guessing you are a future senator then? :P

@Cedardog, I CC stalked you and looked at a chance thread you had posted earlier, and it scared me half to death. I swear, you are like exactly like me, except Republican (I’m a solid liberal). haha, here’s to us both getting in and having tremendously nerdy political discussions in the future! :)

Oh, and anybody else really attracted to the Yale Political Union? That was certainly one thing that drew me in.

@T26E4 Yeah, I really love the gender studies department especially because my favorite activist Larry Kramer went there and gave a bunch of money to Yale so it could invest in tons of LGBTQ related resources The queer scene really is great compared to a lot of other schools.

@lucya I applied to 10 schools. I was going to apply to more but I thought it would be too many to choose from. Haha.
@Adodie Yeah I did a lot of gay activism stuff in high school along with being a member of my school’s government club. Yeah, I’m super liberal. Haha. I love Yale’s Political Union. It sounds amazing.

Yale-NUS is a joint liberal arts school created by Yale and National University of Singapore in Singapore. Generally most of the students are Singaporean, but there are some spaces for international students… I heard that the acceptance rate for Yale-NUS was like 3~4% which is RIDICULOUS considering that Yale had acceptance rate of 6~7% last year

So Yale is liberal? Oh joy.

I applied to 17-19. I might withdraw my app from one school, I might apply to one more.
