Yep I live close to one of the top 10 largest cities… No interview and I don’t buy that there are no alumni here. Hopefully I get one. Although, my friend hasn’t gotten one either so maybe they’re just swamped this year.

PLEASE TELL ME IF I’VE RAN INTO A PROBLEM:

First I applied to Yale SCEA on paper; however, I didn’t get any confirmation of my application or their materials. So I was sure that my application didn’t reach admission office at Yale.

Hence, doubting the reliability of the mail system, I sent an RD application to Yale, online using common app website. Interesting thing is I just got the confirmation an hour ago of my application. Note that I sent application around the fourth week of December, which was around a month ago. And I got this Eli account information and confirmation of my application only after emailing the lady admission officer three times in last ten days.

I went through the Eli Account setup;however, now my Eli Account shows that I had applied SCEA and was deferred… Does this mean that I applied to Yale twice in the same application cycle? Does that cause a problem? Both my paper and online application were exactly the same… (Same application, same essays etc.)…

Any other serious ramifications of the event? Pls help me… I am not feeling that great about the app… now

I’d call or email and ask, explaining what you’ve just posted here. Hopefully they’ll sort it out.

call 'em up, get it sorted. I’m guessing it’ll be no big deal.

At least one “likely” phone call at my son’s HS this evening. Not a STEM major I think.

What is the email to which I can send an application update/extra info?

Thanks!

apply.questions@yale.edu

Thanks! And I love how you happened to post at 7:02 AM hahaha

Just out of curiosity, where is everyone applying and for what intended major?

I applied to Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Pomona (Cali weather!), Bowdoin, Amherst, and Wellesley… Plus two other state schools I’ve already been accepted to I’m majoring in psychology maybe, not sure.
Yale is my first choice.

All the Ivies + Amherst, Williams, Duke, Vanderbilt, Uchi, Emory and Stanford. No safeties. I’m all in. :D

I’m going for Biology.

6/8 out of Ivies, some LAC’s ,Wash U in St. Louis, couple of Canadian schools, KAIST in Korea. Pretty international huh? haha

You people applied practically everywhere! Guess you’ll have a nice list of acceptances in April :)

Gahh just got contacted for an interview. She’s a doctor of psychology and a fellow at UofT

6 Ivies, UChi, Wesleyan, Williams, Amherst, Villanova, UConn, Fairfield, Providence, Bentley, Holy Cross, Colby. Yale is my number one, but I wasn’t going to be foolish…applied to mucho safeties to see what I can get for merit aid.

I applied to Yale (which at this point is my top choice), Princeton, Brown, Harvard, Penn, Pomona, Claremont McKenna, USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, Northwestern, Washington University in St. Louis, Georgetown, and George Washington University – a total of 15 colleges. I originally also wanted to apply to University of Chicago, but by the time I was done with applying to the other 15 schools, I couldn’t stand the thought of doing another application. xD

In addition to the other schools you applied to, what majors are you probably going into? What about that major or subject area interests you? I’m just curious to see what you all say. :)

As for myself, I’d love to go into political science. Politics and government have always fascinated me, and I’ve become somewhat involved in local politics and absolutely love it.

I applied to way too many schools. I think it came to 20 total? I have a fair few safeties and way too many reaches, but I watched my sister get rejected at almost every school two years in a row, so I’m sort of terrified.

As for my major, I’m fifty-fifty between biology and physics, so I went half and half on my applications (I think my Yale app said applied physics). Hoping to go into medicine or maybe engineering! Politics really is fascinating - I don’t think I’d consider it for a career, but I do like to follow it and speak out for things I believe in.

I originally applied to 13, a few have dropped off and now I’m considering: HYPS, Cornell, University of Rochester, WUSTL, Case Western, MIT, University of Pittsburgh. Already accepted to the last 3. For STEM undecided, I listed Physics mostly.

@unicameral - I wish I were reasonable, like you! Ha. Although it certainly doesn’t hurt to have an MIT offer under your belt.

My problem is that I’m too optimistic and could totally picture myself at every school I applied to… I didn’t have the heart to take any off the list.
