Yale Class of 2017 RD Discussion thread

^
hahaha that is so funny haha :)

I’m really nervous about financial aid and Yale. My family’s EFC came out to be ridiculously high… 36,000 when my mother lost her job this year and we have a family to support in Cuba. We made 114k this year but it was due to my mom having to take out her entire retirement fund to support us when she didnt have a job. Does anybody know how generous Yale is in situations like this? I don’t have know how to turned out to look like my family has so much money because we don’t and my parents can’t afford to pay almost anything for my college education.

Hahahaha I didn’t even notice!
“you weren’t smart enough to notice???”
CHECKS REJECT BOX

peter1412 Im from London , applying to Yale.

I’ll be at Bulldog Days too! I have already made travel arrangements.

My friend just got one of the likely letters, and when she went online it said “Welcome to the class of 2017”. And the admissions officer called her and basically said as long as she doesn’t fail her classes now she’ll be getting her official letter on the 28th. Has anyone had this/heard of someone having this? And should I be worrying that I’m not getting this? xP

Polite: read the following:

No it should not cause you to worry.

for those of you going to bulldog days, did you receive a travel grant and if so how does it work. do you make arrangements on your own?

So, when do you guys think decisions will be finalized? We’re notified on the 28th, but I wouldn’t be surprised if all decisions are made by next week.

Decisions are probably finalized for 98%+ of the applicants. The adcoms are probably going over some boarderline decisions now.

Please, Yale? I’ll give all my money.

lovegrapes, you simply follow the hyperlink in the email to orbitzforbusiness.net. Booking a flight was pretty easy. Yale pays for the ticket.

LeiaOrgani, thanks! were you able to book transportation to and from the airport and yale with the flight?

What time are decisions released?

Yale will provide shuttle reservations from Hartford or one of the New York City area airports to the university after you book your travel plans. If you choose to fly into New Haven, you can just take a cab. Simply request a receipt for the cab ride, so you can be reimbursed.

Good luck to all! My son was deferred from SCEA and recently won a very competitive scholarship. I know decisions are two weeks away, but would it be beneficial for him to inform the admissions people of this award? Thanks for answering!

There is no harm trying! Send in that info and pray that they take a look at it.

Thanks …will give it a shot!

What if I win a scholarship from another (peer) school?

I got waitlisted at UChicago. No hope for Yale?
