Hey guys,
I am applying to Yale RD as well. I have a query and was wondering if anyone here could help me with that.

Well, I am conducting research under a professor at a university. Since it’s still under progress, I will not be able to submit a research paper to Yale. In that case, will an abstract suffice, illustrating the work I have been doing till date?

Moreover, since the deadlines are really close, will it count against me to do several research projects but not submit any research materials i.e. paper or abstract?

I would assume an abstract is better than nothing at all. I dont think there would be any harm in sending the abstract and then a short essay explaining that you’re not finished with your research.

I am also working on a research project. I haven’t finished mine either, but I did most of it over the summer. Data analysis is ongoing, so I don’t have a paper. So I just sent in an abstract under “Additional Info” on the CommonApp outlining the project and noting that final results aren’t in yet. They didn’t seem to have a problem with that, as I got in SCEA :)

hey guys, if I’m not planning on majoring in a science, is it pointless to send a description of my research? I have a half-day research internship this year for school credit, so I was just gonna put a short description in the common app’s additional info section.

I forgot to list my future AP exams on the Common App. I got deferred from Harvard so I don’t think it was a big deal. But I already sent my RD app to Yale

Should I send an update? It’s only my IB exams and a couple of AP exams (hopefully they assume I’ll take them because I have to take the IB exams for my IB diploma)

runnerxc and Philo, only the tests already taken. See instructions from the academics section of the Common App:

“Please list only the best SAT Subject, AP, and IB exam scores taken to date, focusing on the most recent tests taken.”

They only care about AP exams really, after you’ve been admitted. I’m sure they will look at your current course load and assume you will take the AP or IB exams for the classes you are currently taking.

“We strongly recommend that you report any AP or IB test scores when applying to Yale. You may self-report AP scores in the spaces provided on the Common Application or on the Yale Supplement.”

Don’t list future. But, this paragraph would not be on their website if they did not consider AP/IB scores during their evaluation time. If you have any of those ready, submit an update.

Hey guys. I was deferred SCEA but am still in love with Yale, and am going to see that singing bulldog that time around! Best of luck to all of us, so glad another of these threads is available.

Is it better to send in a full research report, an abstract, or a sheet that explains in details what you did in your extracurriculars (like if you had a leadership role) for the additional info on the common app?

Hey guys! So I’m retaking the SATs in January, and I was wondering how I notify Yale (or any school). I’m already having the scores sent when available, but do I need to send them a letter or something stating my new scores/hopefully superscore when I get them??? Also, maybe I just screwed something up, but has anyone who already applied SCEA somewhere had their common app lock them out of the general pages (everything not on supplements)?? It won’t let me change anything…
