OK and NM, the deep south! The term only applies to the southeast. :P

So, guys, some advice. I got mail recently (a week or so ago) from “the head of alumnis in my area” or whatever telling me that an alumni has been assigned to interview me, and I sent an email to the person immediately. However, I haven’t gotten any further communication.

I have a feeling that Ms. Assigned Alumni isn’t going to interview me. -_-

Half of me doesn’t want an interview. But there’s not much data on how interviews affect admissions, so I dunno.

Feels like it maybe… it’s definitely South, but I have a hard time calling it deep south. In my mind, ‘deep’ refers to Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina.

@Philo, aren’t you in the midlands? I haven’t even gotten any contact at all har in der lowcountry.

If interviews did not affect admissions, why would they go through the time to coordinate them and read the reports – or more importantly waste the time of their alumni.

I’m sure whoever you have contacted is busy. Be patient, and I’m sure all will be ok.

I really don’t know. But every source I find says that the interview has a negligible effect — as it should. It gives the admissions peeps more data for a difficult decision, I guess.

But most importantly, Yale’s promised that it doesn’t really throw a big hoohah if I get interviewed or not. I won’t stress over it.

To all those who are stressing over the interviews, you really don’t need to worry. I think the best thing to do is to have an easy conversation. If you REALLY want to mention something, try to lead the conversation there and integrate it well. Don’t just list things that you hope will impress the interviewer. Interviewers are people too and they love conversations. My interviewer was really easy to talk to and she was genuinely interesting.

Noooooo! Just checked my email and my heart skipped a beat when I saw the subject line… He wants to do it at a posh club in the city somewhere, but it’s closed on Monday’s and for five days over thanksgiving, so I really only have a few day window to figure this out. Looks like a fascinating guy, though, he has a hilarious picture on his company website of him wearing a hawaiian shirt on a moped lol.

Guys, I haven’t gotten any interview emails yet, and I submitted my application on October 28th…I live in the Chicagoland area–should I be worried??

Swemma, do not be worried. Your ASC might have contacted your interviewer already. In Chicago, there’s even a chance that there won’t be sufficient interviewers to interview you.

Happy2012, I’m planning to dress business casual.
