Yale Class of 2018 RD Discussion Thread

I’ve been accepted at Rice and WUSTL so far, waitlisted at Williams and Northwestern…not too sure what to expect, I have 7 decisions coming tomorrow.

It’s getting closer and closer! Good luck, everyone!

You too, @ronanicus!

Almost thankful I don’t have that many coming tommorow, but I suppose I have less chances of happiness :((

Anybody else not nervous yet (though I’m sure I will be come 5 PM tomorrow).

I’m more excited to finally see the results after this long wait than nervous to know where/if I got in.

@satman1111
I am not THAT nervous right now but I doubt that will continue. Tommorow when I wake up, it will probably hit me.

As for me, I go back and forth between feeling very confident and very insecure.

I’ve been mentally trying to prepare myself for rejection… after deferral SCEA, my hopes were crushed after months of build-up, so now, every time I think about acceptance, I have to mentally remind myself I’ll probably be rejected to avoid the inevitable pain

I go back and forth between being pretty sure I’m going to be rejected and very sure I’m going to be rejected

College admissions feels kind of like flipping a coin, except heads and tails are both losses, and we’re all just waiting for the coin to land on it’s edge.

Reminded of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, which begins with 92 heads flips in a row…

@brokenandhealed – I submitted a school essay to Amherst too and I got an early write acceptance. I really just think they want to get a feel for how you write.

I guess I’ll post here. Yale is 100% my top choice (I stated in my essay that I’d attend if I was accepted). But I don’t know, the naviance graphs at my school do not look optimistic at all. An acceptance would really help clear up the issue of making a decision though, as right now I’m drifting in between Amherst, Williams, Pomona, and Davidson.

I agree that a lot of results make no sense. I was rejected from UChicago, not even waitlisted (and my brother attends there), while a lot of people with lower stats than me got waitlisted at my school. I was also waitlisted at Bowdoin, despite acceptances to Williams and Amherst. While tons of people argue that there is a “science” to admissions, I’m fairly certain that it is pretty random ultimately. Otherwise every top school would have a much lower yield rate – there can’t be many cross admits between Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, so I assume the majority of admits were just “randomly” accepted to one top school.

Good luck to everybody X_X

I have 9 decisions tomorrow; or should I say 9 rejections. That has to be a record. XD

@HBombJT
I have 9 decisions tommorow as well (probably at least 8 rejections). We should start up a club! JK…

I’m in the 9 decisions club too! Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Harvard, Princeton, UC Berkeley, U Penn, and Yale.

I only have 6 rejections tomorrow, feels good to be losing the rejection competition (so far…)

I have… two #n00b

@LAMuniv two as well, Yale and Brown. The two best Ivies IMO
B-)

Four decisions/rejections!
