we have no control over the decisions at these schools but ultimately they know what they are looking for and if we don’t get into them its because they know and they are telling us. so for example, i don’t get into one my the schools i’m waiting to hear from. its because they know i’m not a good fit and they are telling me that. so ultimately they are doing me a favor by not admitting me to their school i won’t fit in at. i’ll use this reasoning today to 1. help soften the blow and 2. make me realize all the other great schools that i go into, know i will fit in so i’ll have a choice of picking somewhere we both (the school and me) know i’ll be happy. may sound weird but i want to be practical and mature about this. heard of kids being devastated on D day - i don’t want to be one of those kids and am going to to my best to be mature and reasonable about it…

Waiting on three decisions today…Yale, Cornell, Columbia. We have no idea how it’s going to turn out. DD has what seems to me a great portfolio, but people from our school don’t often go to Ivy schools, except every other year or so someone gets into Cornell (40 minutes down the road). It’s a different mindset here than in some places. Some people say that coming from a little rural school is a hook; I don’t know…it’s so intimidating to see how many AP courses some students take when our school only offers three, and two of them are only offered senior year so only one grade shows up on the transcript! We’ll see later today, I guess.

I have 7 decisions coming in today…Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Yale…and Duke. I’m extremely nervous, have been accepted to WUSTL and Rice so far, but waitlisted at Northwestern and Williams…I guess I’ll find out in a little more than six hours…

@desie1 AP scores. Pretty unnerving though because my AP scores aren’t bad, but not good enough for them to be swayed towards a positive decision.

How could they tell you that with one week to go? You would have to ask someone to write a letter of recommendation immediately to get it to them in time. That seems strange! As for the AP scores, maybe they were just checking to make sure you took the exam and didn’t get a 1 or 2 since you didn’t report the scores. I can’t believe they would base an entire decision on AP scores that aren’t even a required part of the admission process.

Just waiting to be rejected from all the schools I applied. I already have imagined me getting the rejection letters and thought about how to deal with it… Still have no answer, but time will pass. Argh. Good thing is now I have a class so I will have a distracdtion from all these (or not?).

it’s already about 6pm. here. Who’s having the longest day ever? (Ok, probably some applicants from Australia, but I still needed to complain :P)
