Yale Class of 2018 SCEA Discussion thread

When does Yale typically assign interviews for EA applicants (already received eli acct. info a while ago)?

November – reports due end of Nov.

Ok, thanks T26E4. Just wanted to clarify as I found it odd other schools I applied to RD already gave me interviews.

how long after submitting your app did you guys get Eli Account info? I submitted my app on Sunday Oct 27th and haven’t received login info yet

D was deferred EA and accepted RD without ever being offered an interview. Not everyone is interviewed.

What are your opinions on listing hobbies in the additional information section? such as reading, sketching, etc.

If you think adding the hobbies will allow them to get to know you better, add them. If you keep it short, I doubt it would hurt you.

Thank you SpoolMan!

Dear Awesomenerd,

I also submitted all my materials on October 27th, but have not received eli account yet.

You’ll need to be patient, they say within 3 weeks. I submitted the 23rd and haven’t gotten anything yet.

however, for single choice early action applicants, they say “Approximately a week after you submit your application and writing supplement you should receive an email from Yale with instructions for setting up an Eli Account,” so I hope soon!

Has anyone done an interview yet?

i just got contacted for an interview! :)

I’m from San Francisco, and there’s no possible chance for me to go to Yale for an on-campus admissions interview

You all know that no one is assured to get any interview, right? It all depends on the number of volunteer alumni in your area. So it’s possible that you won’t get contacted at all – but it has no bearing on your eventual accept/reject

Does anyone know if on-campus interviews are weighted more heavily?

It is not i don’t think

Do they contact you through home phone, cell, or by email? My phone is off during school and sometimes the home phone is bad option, too, so that’s why I’m worried.

mine called me today on my cell

Okay, I guess they’d understand if I’m at school or something and can’t answer it. Thanks!
