I heard it goes by what you put as your preferred and secondary phone number on common app

Does Yale count and closely monitor how many acceptees from each HS?

the admissions officer who came to my hs said they didnât have âquotasâ from each high school butâŠ

Iâve said it before: the sole reason why Yale would choose to self impose a quota on any particular HS would be in order to set aside the slots for another HS.

Yale isnât beholden to any HS, to not hurt their feelings. If one HS, one particular year, has 5 great applicants, Yale will go ahead and offer admit to all five. If that same HS has no great applicants for the next 20 years, Yale will by pass them for 20 yrs. They arenât trying to please anyone but themselves. No HS quota.

@x3Strwbrry: try to relax. Interviewers are given your telephone and email. They arenât idiots who donât know how to reach someone or leave a message. If you are to be interviewed (you might not be), then you will be contacted.

I spoke with my regional admissions officer a month ago and he said that approximately 20,000 out of the 29,600+ applicants are academically qualified to attend the school. By qualified I think he meant at least 2000+ SAT and 3.6 GPA. You would think more people would research the school before applying blindly.

âYou would think more people would research the school before applying blindlyâ

Itâs amazing how many people apply blindly with fingers crossed hoping to âsneakâ in on an off day by the admissions staff â hoping for the miracle with the âI canât ever get in if I donât tryâ mentality. The access provided by the Common App and the visibility of schools like Yale et al in popular culture has more than doubled the # of apps in the last 8 years.

T26E4 - I think youâre right and this is exacerbated by the idea that for the Ivyâs (and a few other schools) that they are a âreach for everyoneâ which is misunderstood to mean that therefore everyone has a chance to get in.

I might have asked this before (my memory is terrible sometimes), but is it possible that if we sent in the app two-three weeks ago, the initial reader could have already made a decision?

^ who can really know?

I got an email saying they had my common app and writing supp and gave me some student id⊠i was so excited because i thought it was for the eli acct but apparently itâs just for their reference⊠:(

Happy Nov. 4th! Sent in my app Good luck everyone! Now for the waitâŠ

Haha itâs such a relief that itâs done, but waiting could actually be the most difficult part. Good luck to everyone! :)

39 days and 4 hours until D-Day! :)

Whatâre you guysâ predictions on chances?

Me:
20% accepted
60% deferred
20% rejected

I canât believe Harvard accepts nearly 300 more kids than Yale in the early round.

The student id that Yale sent in an email, do you have to use that for your Eli account or will they give separate information for that?

hmm it changes yearly so donât worry about it

and i guess separate? itâs not the correct pin for eli acct so im assuming itâs just for their records

email says âuse this number on any future correspondence with our office to help us locate your application documents accuratelyâ

So hyped up now, everything is sent in and all thatâs left is the waiting⊠probably the worst part though. Anyone receive/ will be attending an interview yet?

Three other guys in my school also applied SCEA (and we all happen to eat lunch together, go figure) and they told me that on their common apps it said âdownloadedâ next to their teacher recs. On my CA it says âsubmittedâ. Does this mean that the regional officers have already delved into their files?

And they applied 2 weeks ago while I applied 2 days ago, if thatâs a hint.

Thought Iâd jump into the conversationâanyone procrastinate longer than my 11:30 submission?
