Yale Class of 2019 SCEA Discussion Thread

You’re right, it wasn’t me LOL. I wonder if the e-mails are going to her spam? I don’t think that it would be so bad to try the alternative e-mail address. Tell your kid to tell her that she tried to contact her and since Friday is fast approaching, she decided to be proactive and contact her this way. He/She can always use you as the excuse that her mother (you) made them contact them in this manner. We are used to parents being involved in the process.

Under no circumstance should you send the e-mail though.

Thanks @TPerry1982! I gave her the OK to send her email. Its a fine line to walk between proactive and pushy :slight_smile:
I really appreciate the perspective of a sane adult. I presume from your prior posts that you are not in the throes of the application season this year, but are recently experienced with it, and I hope to return to have your clear-headedness and wisdom 12 months from now :)

OMG, my daughter is a freshman at Yale this year so this time last year I was in the exact same spot you are in. Take it from those of us with freshman, you and your senior will survive.

Then, next year you can be on here with the freshman parents worrying about your child’s first days and weeks away at college. It never ends.

@billymayshere.

Thank you for the advice. I will talk to my, probably via email cause a calling from where I live may be bit of a hassle.

Best,

@Blueintheeyes‌,

Remember, they’re probably swamped with emails at this time. Unless it’s really as much of a hassle as you say, I suggest calling them. You will definitely get a response that way.

I live near Washington DC and submitted my EA app on October 27th. I have yet to receive an email from an alum about an interview. Am I stressing unnecessarily for no reason or should the lack of contact be interpreted as an indicator that I am not of interest to the university?

I submitted my CommonApp on 1st of November(last hour). Now, I still didn’t receive any email from Yale Admission Comittee. I applied Yale a year ago with RD and was emailed after 3 days. Is that OKAY or not? Howvere, my cousnselor and teachers did not begin their work on Commonapp. I am depressed very much. Please someone tell me that everything is OK. My teachers and counselor will do their part today or tomorrow.

@Eljui7‌ Do you mean that you have not received Eli information?

@citiusaltius‌ No, I am in the same boat (different location.) According to my admissions counselor, we can still get word in the next two weeks about the interview. Also, even if we didn’t get an interview, it means little as to if the university is interested or not. It may simply mean that the number of applicants is too much for the alumni to interview in so little time.

@TrumpetMan Exactly!. Please tell me something

Hi everyone, I am an international applicant for the class of 2019. I submitted my application on October 29 and I have not received my Eli account yet. I felt calm after reading others are in the same situation. However, I am worried about this: I presented the ACT on October 25 and I have not received the scores yet. I have not sent any other scores to Yale; will this hurt my application? (If scores arrive by November 20-30)? And will I receive my Eli account after they receive the scores?

Please don’t think that the lack of an interview means a lack of interest. In some instances, there are far more applicants than alumni to do interviews, especially in the short period of time allowed for SCEA applicants. The reports have to be turned around almost immediately.

Hey everyone!

I’m an international applicant too. I submitted my application on the 1st of November but didn’t receive my Eli account information. I called the admissions office today and it turns out that they’d mailed me the details on the 2nd of November- but I hadn’t gotten them. The admissions secretary asked for my email once again and mailed me my details. So if you still haven’t received your account info, I’d encourage you to call up the admissions office. And second thing. Even though I’ve set up my Eli account, whenever I try to login, I get directed to the Yale help page. What’s that all about? Can someone please share the link for the Eli account login? Maybe there’s a problem with that particular URL. Thank you, and best of luck to you all. Hope to see you come next September, God willing. Cheers.

@Wells14 I want to ask how old are you? When have you born? In 97 or?)

@nausherwan96‌ I want to ask you too how old are you? When have you born? In 97 or?)

Why?

@Eljui7‌ From what I’ve read, it can take up to 3 weeks to receive your Eli Account information. I wouldn’t worry quite yet. I am a domestic applicant, studying out of the country. It took about a week to receive my Eli information. Other students at my school (international) have reported not having their information either until this morning.

Don’t fret. If it’s past three weeks, make sure to call the admissions office and ask them about it. But until then, it’s a horrible wait-and-see game.

@TrumpetMan‌ Ok. I got it

@nausherwan96 I took two gap years and tgoyght that I am too old fo be a freshman. Btw I am also 96

@billymayshere,

I sent an email elaborating my gap year to my regional admissions officer, and it turns out she planned to contact me about how I spent my year. So all’s well. Many thanks for your advice
