Yale Class of 2019 SCEA Discussion Thread

Hey guys
I’m an international applicant from Asia
Has anyone in Asia heard anything about interview yet?

@nausherwan96‌ Okay, go to this link:

http://admissions.yale.edu/eli-accounts

And then halfway down the page, click on the embedded link, “Application Checklist”

Thanks for the information @TrumpetMan‌ I will contact the admissions office by November 19 if I don’t receive my Eli account. Do you know if October ACT scores would arrive late? (I know the admissions page says it is fine, but I am a bit worried; should I call them to verify everything will be fine?)

@Wells14 - It would depend on when the ACT releases the scores. If there aren’t any complications, and the website says it’s fine, then it’s fine.

This lack of an interview is killing me.

@flyingrainbows same. :’( i know it doesn’t matter but I feel like I’m eloquent enough that it would add to my application !

Same here. I know it does not matter but… an interview would have been fun :)

To anyone who has their Eli account already and took the October ACT: Has the new score shown up on your account?

Hi Tperry1982,

This past summer my mom and I had an opportunity to visit Yale. Seeing the campus in person was like a dream come true.

However, although we stayed at a hotel very close to the campus, the city of New Haven was not quite what I expected.

Do the other students ever have a need to go off campus? Does the city of New Haven affect student life? I would imagine at some point I might want to go off campus for a slice of pizza or maybe take in a movie. Are there enough options available on campus?

Thanks @Dannnn I hope there is no problem then. And @Eljui7‌ I am 96 too!

@Wells14‌ - No problem! Of course, if you have any doubts, contact Yale directly.

Hi Emenya,

I took the 10/25 ACT and my score has not posted on my ELI account. But since I took the ACT plus writing and my writing score has not posted yet, I did not expect it to.

Good luck and hopefully your score shows up soon. :-)

Thanks @emenya!

Only one month now until decisions are out! Although, I’m sure it will feel like much longer.

People are already talking about imminent decisions whilst I’m still waiting to receive Eli account :frowning:
Still no word from Yale about EliAccount information.

It’s pretty surreal knowing that in one month we’ll know. Agh, it’ll be an excruciating month.

My guidance counselor sent my previous ACT scores to Yale over a week ago and they still haven’t shown up on my Eli Account! Should I be concerned?

@HappyCamper2015 - New Haven has more restaurants per square mile than Manhattan, it’s considered the foodie capital of CT and, yes, students partake. To me it’s the ideal college town. Surrounds the school, serves the students needs, and there is a need for the students to serve it. It’s a good give and take.

Hi Keesh17,

Thank you for responding. I was so taken in by Yale that I did not really have an opportunity walk around the city. We had just left Princeton (which also was a beautiful campus) the day before. Admittedly, we had a two days there which gave us more time to adventure away from the campus.

If I’m admitted to Yale, I will have an opportunity to go back in the spring and take in more of the university and the surroundings.

@Blueintheeyes‌,

Great to hear. Like I said, they’re always happy to help, and they’re very proactive in that regard (as shown by her desire to eventually reach out to you about your gap year).

Good luck, not many of us gap year applicants (esp. US gap year applicants, which I am—not sure if you are). We’ve got to stick together, haha.

On another note, I had my interview yesterday. It went well. My interviewer and I are interested in two completely different fields, but I think that helped because it gave me a lot to talk about and elaborate on. I came in relaxed as I’ve had interviews last year and they became less and less scary each time.

I haven’t received my Eli information yet, either, but as many have said, don’t worry, it can take a while.

Good luck to everyone else in their interview and when the news gets back in December!

Received my Eli information a few mins back :expressionless:

But never got a call for interview  I really hope interview session isn’t over yet
