@ConcertoinD In the early rounds Likely letters are pretty much reserved for recruited athletes so I wouldn’t even be thinking of getting one if I were you. There’s no point in letting a typical applicant know a few weeks early that they will probably be accepted. For athlete, who may have other options it is important to let them know early, however. Good luck and don’t worry if you don’t get an interview.
@baltimoreguy In that YDN article, I wholeheartedly disagree with the Chgo ASC Directors statement that applicants are more likely to be admitted if interviewed. I fully know that our area’s assignments are randomly assigned. With a 7% admit rate, “more likely” means what? I don’t think any meaningful correlations can be made.
Does anyone know why Yale won’t confirm if they’ve received any supplementary material? Like I sort of get it, but what’s the rationale?
Also virtual interview tmm! Nervous but excited!
40 days to go - it’s just like Lent :))
Did anyone who sent the September 2015 ACT to Yale get a “Received” status in their portal yet? I sent the June and September ones at the same time but I only see the June one in the portal.
Gosh I am so nervous about Yale! I really want to go for Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry but I know that Yale is a reach school for everybody. Just hoping my essays and recommendations are good enough. Interview is scheduled for Monday! What should we talk about when the interviewer asks us why we want to go to yale? What are the no-no answers to that?
@letmethink hey I’m pretty sure Yale received my September ACT. When did you send your scores?
@ConcertoinD I’m from AZ and i also submitted Oct 31…no interview email yet
For everyone who’s asking “why didn’t X appear on my yale portal” and similar concerns, let me point you to last December’s traffic on this site. There wasn’t a SINGLE person who reported: “My application wasn’t evaluated!”
Guys – trust in the process – tens of thousands have gone before you. Yale is supremely glad you applied. If anything is missing THEY WILL CALL YOU. THEY WANT TO FIND A REASON TO ADMIT YOU.
Obviously, they can’t admit everyone – but they are exultant that you’re considering them. Trust that. Now go enjoy yourself – you’ve worked very hard to get to this point. Go binge watch something off Amazon Prime or Netflix.
These are motivational words! Thank you
@Shayyyyy I sent both my June 2015 and September 2015 sittings on 10/18
What’s everyone’s intended major? I’m super hopeful that some of us may see each other in the fall
I just got set up with an alumni interview! I’m so excited. I can’t believe it’s finally happening. Time to hope for the best. Good luck to everyone! I hope we see each other in the fall.
@ShawnLooch I will probably major in the biological sciences. I hope to do a Global Health Fellowship and pursue a master’s degree in Public Health through Yale’s accelerated dual degree program. But who knows? Maybe I’ll switch to political science or literature!
If someone else from my school has gotten an interview request and I haven’t, can I assume that I will not be contacted?
How do you get contacted for an interview? Is it by phone or email?
@Xboxgamergirl I would guess either, but mine was by email.
@enigmaticmind The interview assignment system is random, spread among dozens or hundreds of volunteers, being assigned by one director. Your classmate’s scheduled interview is independent of your situation. It could easily be the other way around – i.e. random and circumstantial
@Xboxgamergirl There is no “Yale directed” way to contact students. We are given your email, home and mobile phone numbers – how you’re eventually contacted is dependent on the interviewer’s preference. Make sense?
Just had my interview! Went great…I hope lol
Just glad to put a face to an application.
@letmethink Umm that’s probably why your score is still on the way… It usually took 2-3 weeks or more. I sent mine by the end of September and the school received them couple days before the deadline.
@T26E4 thank you! I actually got an email from an interviewer shortly after I posted.
