Yale Class of 2020 applicants

@Xboxgamergirl, Info on Likely Letters by yours truly

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/804816-quick-facts-about-likely-letters.html

THANK YOU!!!

Sooo now I’m waiting and this, I think, is the most stressful part of the process. After pressing the submit button yesterday (in school, at lunch, nonetheless … how’s that for anticlimactic?) I’ve been waiting on tenderhooks for the email with the info for the accounts — I know not to expect it this quickly, but I can’t help but stress

The real question, though, now that I’ve moved onto the next thing (aka decisions) …
Can any past yale admits/relatives of such tell us: is there really a singing bulldog?

@mytosies - Yes, indeed! I am a member of the Yale Class of 2019, and I recall closing my eyes as my finger pressed the decision button, and hearing the Yale song and opened my eyes to see Handsome Dan (figured it was a gentler way to learn the decision, just make sure your volume is way up). It is a stressful experience, wishing you good news!

Just submitted my application last night at 11:30pm. I’m so nervous!!

When is the deadline for teacher recs?

Yea, buddy! 11:30pm!

It is too late to submit test scores for SCEA? I forgot to send the ACT for one of my test dates.

@letmeseetheworld, if you’ve sent another ACT score, I think you should send in the one you forgot, whether it will get there “on time” or not. Otherwise, it might look as though you were trying to circumvent Yale’s rules.

U can still send them in. The scores are due Dec 1

Submitted my application on Friday. Now the wait!

Does anyone know how/when we will be contacted for interviews?

I’m guessing they will email us

They might email, so check your spam folders, just in case.

If I submitted my application yesterday, when should I be contacted for an interview? Does everyone get an interview? How much weight does the interview carry in the admissions decision? Sorry for so many questions. I got mixed answers from google.

@kuriosmind, Yale tries to give everyone an interview, but can’t. This leads to the answer to your next question. Since not everyone can have an interview, it wouldn’t be fair to make the interview carry enormous weight.

Submitted two weekends ago and still haven’t gotten an email/call…crossing my fingers that I’ll get a chance to have an interview soon

@enigmaticmind @glasshours I spoke with a Yale admissions rep last week and she said they generally don’t even begin offering interviews until after November 1.

Makes sense, interviews are usually after reps evaluate applications. But then how did some people already get their interviews done…(read the earlier discussions on this thread)?

No idea. Just repeating what we were told.
