@t26e4 two years ago yield was 71.7% and they accepted students off of the waitlist. Anecdotally I feel like they’ve done a better job this year of rejecting qualified applicants who will probably not go to the school.
@t26e4 - the reason I ask is because I remembered there were couple of years when several schools completely shut down the waitlist and only Yale was able to accept some.
Looks like the Harvard thread has seen some action…
According to The Crimson, Harvard Admissions announced yesterday that they will take 40-50 students from the wait list.
How delightful for those 50 people!
Personally, I’ve moved on from Yale, so I wish everyone here the best of luck at schools that will most likely not be in New Haven. You can always apply for graduate school or residency and, more importantly, be successful without it!
If they decide not to admit anyone off the waitlist, when will they tell us? Rather not be kept waiting in limbo
Hopefully if they’re not opening the waitlist at all they should let us know soon. That would truly be lovely. Carleton for instance sent out an email a couple of days ago saying they won’t be opening their waitlist at all.
It is disappointing, I suppose but at least you have some closure
Did anyone call yet?
I’d also like to know if anyone called their office. What did they say?
Anecdotally, looking at my app and knowing where I was accepted, not many would think I would have picked Yale. Difficult to predict how much someone wants it from the app, I think.
Great that yield is so high, though!
No! Not great! oh well I’m happy with where I’m going even though I think yale would be the less cutthroat school.
@waitlistedlmao I’m assuming you’re going to Columbia?
And yes, @Anonymoose3 not the best thread to celebrate a high yield!
@GeeksActToo Yup I’m heading to the big city! LOL at the fact that the one year that we apply and get waitlisted and they happen to have a high yield smh.
@waitlistedlmao Congrats! And yeah, really sucks that “oh every year plenty of people reject us. its the norm. oh wait. not this year. haha sucks for you.”
Called, but the customer service at the office was temporarily unavailable.
I wonder if we’ll be hearing back this upcoming week… It seems like no one has heard back yet.
Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here ought to be hung up in this thread.
Got a call about an hour ago. I got in! Deciding between Princeton and Yale right now, but I’m leaning on Yale.
@xWadee Congratulations! Did they say anything about yield rates?
@feeb97 Thank you! Sadly, they didn’t. I just got a call from my regional admissions counselor extending me the offer and telling me I had a week to reply. My assumption is that others have gotten calls or will be getting calls, since I highly doubt I wasn’t the only lucky one haha. Best of luck!
