Hey y’all I didn’t see a thread for this so I’d start one.
Has anyone heard about when Yale is gonna start releasing waitlist results, or if they already reached their yield and has closed the waitlist?
No updates here for my son neither accepted nor rejected.
They said starting May 15th
Their stats say they only accept between 10 and 105 students from the waitlist. So each one of us has about a 5% chance. Good luck!
Haven’t gotten any notification yet… so I probably didn’t get off the waitlist haha. Good luck to the rest of y’all!
Actually, folks who’re getting admitted are receiving emails asking them to call the Admissions Office, then they are given the good news over the phone. This has been ongoing since May 9th…
I’m aware of an applicant that was offered admission from the waitlist on May 9th and had to accept or decline by Friday May 17th.
Any updates anyone? Still haven’t received any notification, does that mean I’m 100% rejected?
Alsoooo I couldn’t find an email address to send my “letter of continued interest”. Is that ok or did I really sabotage myself by not finding another way to get it to them?
Be grateful for the schools that have already accepted you, especially the one that you plan on attending! At this stage, I believe the probability is 1% that any of us get in. Onwards!
Hey guys I thought I would make an account and stop by this thread. I got a call a couple of days ago and officially got the portal update earlier today. Off the waitlist for the class of 2023!
@sadboihours358 - Congratulations and welcome to Yale!
Woot-Woot!
Still no word on my end in regards to being admitted or rejected from the waitlist. Anyone else still waiting?
@SnatchCat I am also still waiting. Never would’ve imagined that I still wouldn’t have heard at this point!
Has anyone heard anything back/been contacted by the admissions office?
Nope
It’s pretty unusual… I read older threads (classes of 2022,’21,’20,’19) on CC & Reddit and final decisions were usually released by May 25th-ish, at the latest. Maybe they plan on taking more students from the waitlist this year?
@user2019 I sure hope so, but I still don’t see why it would take this long. They originally said they would hope to have it all final by June 30, do you think there’s any chance they will take longer than that?
Ok guys I need your help/opinions
I applied to Yale, Princeton, and Harvard RD and received rejections. From what I understand, Yale, Princeton, and Harvard do not have an appeals process. For many weeks I contemplated my next move and came to the decision of “screw it I’m going to write a letter of please let me into your university” and send it to the AOs—similar to a LOCI. This I did. I sent letters out to Princeton, Harvard, and Yale (all of which, as I said, have received a juicy rejection from). Immediately, I received letters back from both Princeton and Harvard stating that decisions are final— which I expected but it was worth the shot.
But here is where it gets interesting.
I have not received anything back from Yale (the letter was sent early May) and I have emailed the AO three times and have gotten radio silence. This is where I am so confused. Did they throw the letter away and just not gaf? Is the email message box on their website out of service?
It seems odd to me that Yale would not give me any response whatsoever. After all, it was no trouble for Harvard and Princeton to mail me back immediately (it was a stock letter so I know I’m not the only one who has done this).
So here is where I am stuck. Should I call the AO (which I am extremely terrified to do)? Should I continue to email Yale and pray for a response? Should I just keep living my life even though I am incredibly stressed about it hence the 4 am post?
Am I foolish to think that maybe I was given a spot on the waitlist…
