Yale Daily News on CC

I have noticed that at least at our HS, the valedictorian is the one student always admitted. Seems like a waste this year, since Yale is not the valedictorian's first choice. Also, the accepted thread students generally have perfect to almost perfect stats. So, it can discourage you from applying, but there are always those few cases that give you hope.

Top 2% seems about right... :)

I personally don't care either way. If a college has a problem with me being on a site that caters to people who care about where they go to college, well I'm probably better off being rejected. :D

They don't have any sinister motives behind the lurking. They just check up from time to time to see if misinformation is being dealt, how their school image is, etc.
It's not as if anyone would care enough to keep the semi-general stats of an applicant on this site on file and sort through thousands of applications to see if there's a relative match. The sheer amount of CHANCES? threads on this site make the scenario of anyone important recognizing your stats around 10,000 to 1. And another 100 to 1 that your presence here would penalize you.

so basically if you post your stats on a thread and then post the rest of your threads about how you love to drink and skip school and stuff, i bet the college would red flag u or someting

Are you lurking Yale? I just want to mention that Princeton Review has really dissed you in the latest guide "The Best 366 Colleges" 2008Edition and knocked your selectivity rating down to 96. Oops! Someone made an error! Yale is as selective as Kenyon? HaHa!

Alright, Yalies.... is this a joke or is someone going insane overthere???!!!

"U.S. cannibalizes self by enabling immigrants, poor"

"Statistics show that majority of U.S. population growth comes from immigration and high birth rate among the minorities, while the native Caucasian population is stabilizing. Notwithstanding exceptions, larger numbers of minorities are ill-educated, have less desirable jobs, and thus are less capable to financially sustain their livelihoods.

In fact, many more minorities depend on government welfare and low-income assistance than whites. Over time, jobs that require less skill will continue to decrease, being outsourced to developing countries with lower labor costs, and the percentage of minorities in the U.S. population will increase, forcing the government to spend much more to evade riots by poor, hungry, unemployed minorities. In the future, growth in spending on welfare programs for the growing impoverished population will plunge the government into further debt and force it to cut back on other budgets such as education. Population growth can hurt America by financially crippling the people and the government in the future"

I'm going to guess it's insanity. Some of the stuff written in the opinion pages of the YDN is pretty scary.

Hedoya: that is the nature of society today. If you choose to allow pics of yourself and friends laughing and hanging out....great. But if those pics have you holding alcohol, doing shots, passed out on the floor, or doing "other questionable things", then you prospective students are really foolish. Your peers are not the ones who will be admitting you.....adults make the admission decisions.

chambay: FYI about these threads. Always check the date of the last posting. Hedoya's post was made in March of 07 and his/her last appearance on CC was June of 07.

While these archived threads may be interesting, often the posters have gone onto other things. Rgrds T26
