Yale Demographics

Hey can anyone tell me the demographics at Yale College? Especially by state or region, but also country, religion, public/private high school, etc.

http://www.yale.edu/admit/freshmen/facts/index.html

I meant more specifically.....like on a state-by-state basis (EG: 200 kids from CA, 250 kids from NY, 130 kids from PA, etc.)

I doubt they would let that information be public. I know some schools do a break down by region, and some have a range per state (e.g., states with 50-100 accepted applicants are shaded blue), but I know of no school that gives exact numbers per state. Plus that information wouldn't help you anyway, unless you're doing statistical research. It's not like knowing, say, 36 kids from Indiana were admitted last year will help you gain admission, other than letting you know how many students you're up against... and how many students were admitted last year. But you know nothing about their profile. That's the information I would like to see.

Harvard leads the way. ;)

If he wants the information to strategize about getting in, then 1999 is really too old to use.

I find it interesting that for undergrad, there are three people from South Dakota, but eight from North Dakota. The best part is that there are two internationals who are "stateless."

Yeah I was pretty sure some schools were specific (thanks Byerly).

By the way, stele, I'm actually a girl.

USNews has the public/private breakdown, plus the male/female breakdown, and the instate out-of-state numbers, for most schools.

Yeah, I've seen those. Thanks.

there bylerly is... trying to recruit people for Harvard.

if Harvard was so good, everyone would be going there. recruiting people for Harvard is a bit sad.

Lol! Harvard doesn't need my help!

it seems you think otherwise

Lol. I appreciate the effort, but I'm not applying to Harvard.....
:)

Right. Good luck to Gorby, but I don't think he's the Harvard type!

Yeah, I'm really not. I'm WAY more fun than you Harvard types. Also, I'm a girl.

"Fun" Hoosier hunnies have been known to choose Harvard.!

A poster on the old PR site named "Yale '06 hopeful" eventually chose Harvard over Yale because she liked football, wanted to be a cheerleader, and thought (correctly) that Harvard had a better team and that Cambridge was nicer than New Haven. She was from French Lick and her AOL name was IndianaCheerGirl!

I'll admit that Cambridge is nicer than New Haven. And I really don't have anything against Harvard. It's just not the school for me. And cheerleading really isn't my definition of fun.

Thanks anyway though.

lol
