Lately, I've been looking at a lot of programs at schools that are a bit less mainstream, such as the The Great Books program at St. Johns, and more notably, Yale's Directed Studies program. Are there any other schools that offer programs like this, or are known for small tutorial-style classes? I know its a bit late in the game to be hunting down schools, but I've finally realized that after four years of boring education in high school, there is no way that I could have an ordinary college experience.

So, what are the best programs that offer an interesting college experience? It would be best if they were part of a normal college, though. As much as I love St. Johns, I'm not sure if I'm absolutely ready to give up studying French full time, or the opportunity to study abroad.

I think I heard Stanford had some kind of interesting program. Does anyone know anything about that?
