<p>I just didn't put a major down because I heard that it could effect your application, like if they get too many people who want to do a certain major then that field is a lot more competative to be admitted under because they don't want, say, 1400 political science majors.</p>
<p>Comparing this listing to the declared majors of last year's incoming freshmen is very interesting. More than half of the freshmen in the Yale "facebook" listed their major as undecided.<br>
Are SCEA applicants more likely to declare a major? Or do students change their mind about a major after acceptance?</p>
<p>People are less likely to come to a thread called "SCEA majors" if they are undecided. It's self-selective.</p>
<p>Brune, as a potential polisci major... that was exactly my thinking as well so I just went with undecided. My academic interests will probably come through in teacher recs and stuff.</p>
<p>yeah, same for me and English--it was kind of lame to say "undecided" when my academic interests and all my awards are clearly English- and writing-oriented. maybe we'll get points for interest/commitment if we do that, who knows. i figure that there are many other (and better) reasons to reject a person than his/her declared major, which will probably change. submitted GPA and SAT scores won't, though. hmm.</p>
<p>Haha those scores are stuck where they are. But definitely. I think they don't take too much weight in declared majors since I'm sure the stats suggest that most people change their academic plans. (Correct me if I'm wrong though cause I haven't seen any specific numbers.)</p>
