Location/Person:
State or Country: Hawaii
School Type: public
Ethnicity:Asian
Gender:male

General Comment: all the ppl got deferred, cheer up guys!! if ppl like me did not get denied, then all of you must still have a pretty good chance. good luck to all in RD....

Decision: DEFERRED

Stats:
SAT: 1550
SAT IIs: 800,780,770
GPA: 4.0 uw (pretty much maxed out courseload at a very well-respected school...all A's so can't say i could have done any better in what yale calls clearly the most important part of the app)
Rank: n/a (Cum Laude, so top 10)
Other stats: AP Calc AB 5, AP Calc BC 5, AP US 5, AP CHEM 5, NMSF

Subjective:
Essays: i thought above average, not unbelievebale
Teacher Recs: didn't see them, should have been great
Counselor Rec: same as teacher recs
Hook (if any): obviously none, but things i thought might have been helpful...somewhat legacy (two cousins), athlete (was given a decent chance of walking on if i got in on my own by yale coach...multiple year starter, MVPs, All-League and All-Metro selections for good high school team), numerous math awards and high scores (HiMCM, AMC, AIME)

Location/Person:
State or Country: ??,USA
School Type: Private
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male

Other Factors: math/physics as potential majors...my sport is individually year-round on top of playing for the school team, lots of tournaments, big time commitment...not a lot of leadership or work experience...no internships, significant research...i guess these were my downfalls? who knows...

General Comments: thought i had what it took, but not totally shocked...i know the ridiculous quality of the Yale EA pool, too much respect for that group to definitively expect an acceptance...congrats to those accepted, i'm sorry to those rejected, and for those fellow deferrees: hope to see a bunch of you at bulldog days to decide if this is really the school for us

oh yeah, i'm on the Yale EA Roster

EA roster #78

Decision: DEFERRED

Stats:
SAT: 1450 (800 V, 650 M)
SAT II: 800 F, 780 W, 600 M IIC
GPA: 3.97 uw
Rank: theoretically unranked, but top 10% of 47

Essays: One strong, one outstanding (I thought)
Teacher Recs: didn't see them, but likely: one outstanding, one the sort of "bright kid who worked hard for a B+/A- in my class, in an area he's not so strong in," that can be great or terrible.
Counselor Rec: probably good
Interview: Good
Hook: music-- violin and composition. aspiring professional

State: TN
School: small private, no APs offered but access to a nearby, nationally known LAC
Ethnicity: White/ Native American
Gender: Male

Other factors: As in college English courses at a selective LAC; consistent perfect scores on SAT and ACT verbal sections

General comments: no surprise. they're probably waiting to see the general pool of musical talent. also, my math and science background isn't great, though at the time of application, I was getting an A- in Calculus. I thought I would probably be deferred; now I feel like I'll be accepted in April, though that's probably just wishful thinking.

General Comments: I was expecting this. While my application was good, it had nothing to stand out. Hopefully the 14.4% acceptance rate for Deferrals is because mostly special cases are taken early. However, I believe that I probably won't be going to New Haven next year.

I will still be around, but for a large part, I believe that this is goodbye. For those accepted, the rest of us wish you the best, and remember us next year. For mine own part, Adieu.................
