Congrats to everyone who got in, and good luck to everyone deferred.

Tara, how does your sister already know that she got 45/45 if she applied this year? You can only take two tests junior year, and she has no idea how she did on TOK and EE.

Meant to clarify. Straight 7's, (42/42?), transcript grades. TOK and EE aren't finalized. She does higher Physics, English and Chem.
Sorry, I'm not sure about all the points and everything. I don't have to worry about IB for another 2 years.

Wow, it's really interesting to go back and read this again. o_0

General Comments: I guess it's because I didn't have a hook. Statistically, I look like someone Yale wants, but I'm guessing they want to use EA to get the truly outstanding kids. I hope.

hey dundee is right up the street from me. where do you go to school, if not DC or Jacobs, since you're private?

Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest. I'm new to Illinois -- used to live in Massachusetts -- so I've never attended any of the Dundee schools. I live off of Route 31.

i live off of 31 too, but down in south elgin. good luck getting in in the RD round. it'd be great to have another local.

Lake Forest? wow that's close by. I'm a little north of you guys in Libertyville. I think I know a kid who went to LFA, short guy named Danny Kennedy... all I remember was that he was pretty annoying, ahaha

This thread is very scary for me as an RD applicant, since an even less percentage will get in this round.

I looked through the first three pages or so, and I only saw one person accepted with an SAT under 1500. On the Harvard version of this thread, there seemed to be many with SAT's under 1500.

Well, there must have been plenty of applicants accepted with an SAT score lower than 1500 because the class of 2009 SAT average is 1490.

Doomed. I am doomed! Doooooooomed! Doom, doom, d-d-d-doom, di di, dum dum doom.....does anyone remember that shortlived Nickelodeon cartoon with the freaky alien? Zim or something? His little robot friend was cute....

But you shall not crush my spirit! I'm sending in the darned application with everything I've done and trusting to Eli for the rest :)

I think there was some chart shown previously where there might have been more acceptances in the 1450-1500 range then the 1500-1550 range.

Athletes tend to not post their scores here.

Okay, here's what I'm seeing as I read through these again: The people with outrageously good stats seem to get deferred or rejected. The people with lower stats but obvious direction through scores and ECs get in. For example, a lot of >700 maths but 800 verbal with writing awards got in. >700 verbal but 800 maths with research experience got in. They don't necessarily have 4.0s or a zillion 5s on APs, they have a good balance of "well-roundedness" but a focus on their talents.

That's also because 800s on math is generally seen as easier to come by.
