Well, realistically you do have to compare yourself to others. I mean that's what the adcoms do... they compare candidates to each other and they pick the student who has done better.

They probably have more criterias than academics, though.

they absolutely do, which is why 1600, 800, 800, 800 president of this-and-thats, valedictorians get turned down every year, because they are looking also for involvement, character, essays, recs, personality, and other factors which we dont even know about. that still leaves us with the fact that it is a comparrison, but not one for us to make, its one for the adcoms.

Not just probably. Definitely. I firmly believe that once they establish that you are a strong student, it's ALL ABOUT the subjectives, i.e. essay, recs. I realize that I'm not saying anything revolutionary here, but for all those who are insecure about their chances because of numbers, DON'T BE. Seriously.

You're right. You shouldn't feel bad because of numbers. They are only one part of the application. I feel worried because my essays blow. But that's a different story.

Iplayoboe you beat me to it. But yeah, they DEFiniteLY do!!

lol bebere.
if we start making the comparrisons we might go crazy or suicidal or something. id rather sleep and eat yogurt than try to compare my chances with the people on this forum

What did everyone here do for halloween?

I went to my friend's house to eat apple pie.

Some kids egged my house with HARD-BOILED eggs. The vandals in my neighborhood are so lame.

haha that'd only be funny, if u hit an actual person... but then it'd be a bit cruel.

i went to my grandmoms house and when my little brother came back from trick-or-treating i ate half his candy (the half containing caramel) and now im here doing latin homework.. im lame

haha, am I the only person that went trick or treating?

Yeah, I told my parents about the deadline and they totally b*tched me out and made me promise that I'll finish the essays tonight :(. They also made me promise to burn my essays onto a cd in case my computer crashes. Then they yelled at me for being such a procrastinator (which I am) and told me to never do it again (hmm? how many times have I heard this before). Lol, well it's back to work for Mitchell!

I made brownies to celebrate the end of EA apps for my friends. (hands out virtual brownies to you guys) Halloween isn't that special to me. :) and you guys are right.
