Yale early applications fall 5% 11/17/09

Yale Daily News - Early applications fall 5 percent

Yale's early action candidates dropped from last year's 5,556 to this year's 5,265! Brenzel, director of admissions says that he is still aiming for an early applicant pool of 700 - 750 students!
So.....
This means a higher acceptance rate for early applicants!!!

Probably the best news to get after a great interview last night!

Meanwhile, Stanford SCEA was fairly static, while Duke ED went up. Go figure.

woooot that’s about a 13.3% to 14.2% acceptance rate…

WOW it increased SOOO much from last year’s 13.4% -__- sigh

Small fluctuations in admit rate won’t have a tangible effect on your chances. Yale and many schools of its calibre openly state that as much as a third of their applicant pools is composed of students fit for admission. Personally, I think that this “qualified” group is roughly the same size from year to year, which would imply that, once you’ve made it into this group, the admit rate doesn’t affect you in any way.

Seriously, fluctuations in admit rate won’t affect your personal chances of acceptance in any way.
