Yale Eli Whitney - 2013

Thanks. No news but I think decisions don’t come out until the middle of June. Did you interview?

I’m actually on the Yale campus right now for something unrelated to Eli Whitney, and I’ve got to say that being here has definitely bolstered my drive to get accepted. The campus, the people, the atmosphere are all incredible here. Even New Haven itself isn’t too bad!

As expected I received a very nice rejection letter today.

Sorry to hear that, Springing. You really should contact Michelle Wei and find out where you were lacking.

Yes, maybe. Did you contact the admissions office after receiving a rejection letter? Were they able to provide any feedback?

To any other applicants who may be lurking out there - best of luck to all of you!

Yes. On the advice of another Yale admissions person, I contacted Michelle Wei and asked, quite frankly, where I was lacking. She was very forthcoming (and quick!) with the answer, and told me what I could do to be more competitive for next year. In my case, it was because I had only one semester of post-high school education, so it didn’t allow Yale to get a good read on my academic ability.

@springing. My condolences on the letter. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Will you be applying next year?

Yes, I interviewed. I haven’t received a response yet. Not sure what to make of it. Was your letter sent via mail or email?

I received the letter by email. Check your spam folder.

Is anyone on this board one of the lucky five who made the cut this year?

Seems very doubtful.

Where are you headed for in the fall?

I was accepted to Columbia, but I’m planning on deferring a year in order to save money. Yourself?

I’ll be finishing up my senior year here in New Haven. I’ve started looking into graduate programs in English.
