- Every applicant that Yale things fits the program is required for an interview. 2. Yale accepts anywhere from 2 - 40 applicants per year. There is no limit. 3. If you have challenged yourself taking rigorous courses at your current school and receiving good grades then you will have a shot. I have heard students complaining when rejected that they had 4.0 gpa in their business administration major. While 4.0 gpa is impressive, Yale doesnt offer this major at undergraduate level and most business courses are not challenging. 4. There is no formula for that. Every year, Yale sends interview invitations to students that they thing fit the program. 5. Youngest not sure but you are allowed to apply if you took at least 5 year break so my guess would be 23 years old. I have heard about 60 year old applicant being accepted.
Thank you for your response! A lot of people have told me that they know people who have gotten in without an interview, so I was super confused.
So basically Yale just takes who they think is a right fit?
You are required for an interview if you are EWP applicant. If you are a regular cc applicant straight from high school then interviews are not mandatory. Yes that is correct. Yale will accept students that they thing fit the program and have challenged them selves in recent course work.
Last year I have talked to one applicant that was accepted into the program. I asked for his stats. He had 3.65 gpa from community college. Took challenging classes in math (calculus), science (chemistry) and social sciences ( economics and political science). Yale wants to make sure that you be able to take challenging courses once accepted to the program.
This is really great information. Thank you for your time!
Awesome! Yeah most of my courses have been liberal arts so I hope that helps. I’m also on the younger side so I was concerned that would be a disadvantage (since im barely nontraditional).
I am LAS math/science major and i will be graduating this May from community college. I have been preparing myself for the past year to apply to EWP. Yale is my top choice but i have also applied to Stanford and Princeton. Have you appled anywhere else?
I am applying to the same schools. I love Stanford but either Yale or Stanford would be great!
I am not sure if they’ll consider me (EWS). My profile is meh, and again, I just qualified, so I am still pretty young.
My major is general studies at CC.
@Lukegucio btw do you know how many got in last year?
Sorry i dont but last year 38 applicants using this forum only 2-3 were accepted.
Age does not matter as long as you eligible to apply
I was strongly considering applying last year but i felt like i didnt challenge myself enough in higher level courses. Starting last spring 2021 to this date i took statistics, calculus 1-3, linear algebra, physics 1 & 2, Spanish 1 & 2. I have managed to get all A’s but it was tough. All these classes are my major requirements. Majority of accepted students i talked to have taken simililar classes at their previous institution
Oh wow! You took harder classes than me! Now I’m kinda nervous.
Dont be. AO dont only look at your academic strength. Your essays and recommendation letters are important as well
Only one of my LORs was super good and my essays weren’t the best they could be. My Stanford ones were better.
I know that last year over 200 people applied and 60 received invitations for an interview but how many got in that i dont know
This is from last year from one of applicants that did interview with AO. “The admissions’ department accepts any number of EW applicants they feel are exceptional. Last year they only accepted 4 applicants. The year before they passed through 17.”
I wonder if they only chose 4 because they didn’t like anyone else or because they didn’t have space.
I have read on a Yale Eli Whitney PDF that they accept 12 on average each year. I have also seen on previous posts that some people (at least two) didn’t accept the offer… What is interesting to know is how many receive an offer…
They are not trying to fill empty spots. They will accept as many as they think deserve to be part of Yale. There is no limit of how many applicants will receive an offer. If admissions think 4 or 30 deserve to be admitted thats what they would do
