It definitely fluctuates.
I am so nervous. I really love the program and I am dying to get an interview.

I have read that too. I just find it weird that they could only find FOUR compelling candidates in that specific year. There had to be more, no? The idea of them only taking four makes me so nervous. I would do anything to get in.
How much work experience do you think they are looking for?
I personally think they want to know the reason why you took a 5 year break from school and what have you done during that time (family issues? business start up? Athlete?) I dont think they looking at your work experience (this is not MBA application) but rather what have you learned during this time and what made you come back to pursue undergraduate degree
At my community college, 70% of students pick general studies major. Most courses for that particular major are in 100 level and not challenging. Yale and other colleges this caliber are looking for students that challenge themselves. Someone who got 4.0 gpa in general studies is not as impressive as someone who has 3.8 gpa in math or science major. Thats just my take.
This is a really good observation! Do you mind if I how long it’s been since your HS graduation? Like I said before, I just qualified for EWSP.
I graduated in 2003. I enrolled in community college right after high school and dropped out after 2 semesters and did very purely. I have re enrolled in the Fall of 2019 semester.
Cool! Are you excited about transferring? How early do you suspect that in person interviews will be offered (an email said mid-April)?
Last year, admissions office has been sending interview requests as early as first week of April and as late as fourth week of April. So anytime now but i suspect most interview requests to be sent out in third week. I dont expect interviews to be in person but rather on zoom. Also I have seen applicants being rejected in third week of April. I am excited to transfer. Yale is my first choice. I live 40 min away from New Haven so it would be very convenient for me to attend classes and at the same time continue working. I was accepted to Columbia GS last year but i deffered for a year because of their poor financial aid offer.
Oh yeah, went I said “in person,” I meant a one-on-one through Zoom. Not sure why I phrased it like that, lol.
I noticed that a first wave of rejections was sent out in the third week of April in past years. I guess we’ll know in 2-3 weeks if we have made it to the next round.
Guys, is the midterm report requirement?
In my portal, there is no list for the report.
What about you guys?
They will let you know if one is need it.
They asked for mine, I think it depends on your recent college courses. I haven’t got a lot of math recent courses, but on my application they know I am having some this semester. I suspect they want to see how well I am doing in math and quantitative reasoning. They probably are asking on a case by case basis based on your recent courses you have taken.
Mine won’t be available before late May so I let them know with evidence, they said it’s fine and that I can submit them as soon as avaible. Now I am confused because it will be after descions release date… and I am nervous hoping it will not impact their decision…
Thank you for letting us know. Do you mind telling us how they requested your midterm grades? Thru emal? Thanks
Also, you can ask your math professor to submit or write a letter on your behalf, how you doing in his/her class. He/she can forward this letter to you and you can uploaded in your application portal. It will show admissions at Yale that you are cooperating with their request. Thats what I would do.
Yesterday i wrote an email to office of admissions and asked how many people applied for this cycle. Unfortunately, i was told that they cannot share that information.
They didn’t really requested it… around late February, early March I noticed a change on my application portal. They added my midterm transcript with a red cross mark and awaiting. I immediately contacted them via email to clarify, before this change everything was green and nothing was missing. They actually never reached out to me to let me know they needed it.
If on the application portal you don’t see a midterm transcript missing, they don’t need it I guess.
Mystery not solved… I guess we won’t know until interviews with admissions officers.
Thank you
That is correct. Last year, someone did asked that question during interview and shared here on this portal. I believe little over 200 people applied last year and 60 got interview requests
Thank you for your sharing.
