This is the essay topics page: https://admissions.yale.edu/essay-topics At the bottom of the page it says “Applicants submitting the Coalition Application or Common Application who select one of Yale’s engineering majors will also respond to the prompt below in 250 words or fewer”.
Now go to this page, you can see that Computer Science falls under School of Engineering and Applied Science: https://seas.yale.edu/undergraduate-study/disciplines
So it would appear the engineering essay is required if you’re applying for Computer Science as your first priority. However, in Common App, if you pick Computer Science as the top choice then the space for Engineering essay does not appear. If you pick Electrical Engineering and Computer Science then it appears.
Anyone else run into this problem? Does this mean that engineering essay is not required if CS is your top choice?
