Yale Film Supplement

Hey guys,
Wondering if for the Film supplement for Yale I could send in a regional winning script I wrote instead of a 15-minute long film?

Admissions Directors have about 15-20 minutes to read the required elements of your file – transcript, school profile, test scores, extracurricular activities, essays, guidance counselor’s SSR and teacher recommendations. They really don’t have the time to read an extra 15 minutes of anything else. Instead of submitting the script, I would suggest that you put together a 2-minute trailer of the movie and include a link to it in your list of EC’s.

Have you made the film yet, or is only in script form currently?

If it’s in script form only, I would write a brief synopsis of the film script (no more than 1 page) and clearly label that it is a synopsis, then attach the synopsis and the script to the app. This way, adcom can read the synopsis, and the more interested ones can skim parts of the actual script.

If it is in film form, then I agree with gibby to include a 2 minute trailer of the film and put a clickable link to your 2 min trailer on youtube on the area on CA for art supplement with maybe a 1 paragraph intro either at the link on the CA or on the the description portion on youtube. You can upload your full 15 min film also on youtube that the reader can click on after the trailer if interested, but honestly, it’s tough enough to watch an novice 5 min film, much less a novice 15 min film, no offense. Youtube (or vimeo, which allows filmmakers protection of special interests, you can investigate more fully if interested).
