I think the fact that Yale now has the most generous financial aid in the United States, in terms of financial aid spending per financial aid recipient, will be reflected in a higher yield rate this year.

"Olson, who said he is leaning toward Yale, said the financial-aid packages at Dartmouth College and Williams College do not come close to what Yale has offered him."

Yale gave me $10,000 more than Amherst, Williams, Swarthmore, and Wesleyan. they gave $20,000 more than Wellesley, Connecticut College and American. did apply to any other ivies so can't compare those.

Yale gives me full aid, my family is not rich. Two of my schoolmates which also receives full aid from MIT and Princeton, got 5-10k less than mine

If you have minor discrepancies between offers, contact the financial aid office. I suspect they'd adjust your offer by a few thousand to match a peer school. Don't let that influence your decision.

lobgent: it's fun to watch the offers come in but if your top choice school doesn't have the best offer, give the FA office a call like kwijiorjt said. Congrats. Which way are you leaning? Have you visited the three?

For us, Harvard is $438/year ahead of Yale and significantly ahead of Princeton. It seems like Princeton is lagging behind the other two this year for most students.

Harvard and Princeton both gave me significantly more than Yale did. Don't know how that works. Do you guys think I should try and get more from Yale (because we need it)?
