Yale, Harvard, Columbia, UPenn: Mid-Year Report?

Do we need to submit Mid-Year Reports to Harvard, Yale, Columbia, and UPenn? If so, when are they due? I could not find details on the Yale and Harvard websites, but the Mid-Year Report appears on the Common App. Thanks.

Yes you do. There’s no absolute due date because timing depends on your school’s schedule. Once you’ve got grades in from midterm tests/papers would be a good time.

None of these schools requires a midterm report. Of the top-15 schools, I believe only Cornell requires a midterm report.

Actually, I believe Yale does

Thanks for the input. I couldn’t find anything on Yale’s website specifying that a Mid-Year Report is necessary for transfer applicants; do you have a source for that? As for the others, if I have a stellar set of grades would they mind if I send a Mid-Year Report anyway?

[Transfer Application Instructions | Yale College Admissions](Transfer Application Instructions and Components | Yale College Undergraduate Admissions)

Well, considering that under “Required Application Materials” it says Midterm Grade Report quite clearly, I’m not sure where you were looking on their website :P

Columbia would like to have it, but after speaking to an adcom, I don’t believe it’s absolutely required (though their website says it is). The adcom said, we’ll just have less to judge you on, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

My mistake, thanks.

What about those like Harvard which don’t specify?

All of the schools that knomrien mentioned require a Midyear Report. In trying to find a way to get the form to my daughter’s counselor so that she could complete it for my daughter, I finally found it at the CommonApp website: https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/DownloadForms.aspx.

It seems that most of the schools listed will take a faxed version if it is too late to complete it online.

Good luck!
