Yale, Harvard, UChicago, Duke and Columbia RD from India

Hello. So I am planning on applying to the three above RD from India. Can anyone give me the statistics for Indian students there? My decision was extremely recent so I don’t know much. Thanks in advance.

Harvard and Yale are super competitive. Duke and UChicago aren’t that far behind. I applied REA to Harvard for the Class of 2024 and was deferred to the RD pool. Admissions statistics say that not more than 5 to 7 people get into Harvard College year. Similar stats apply for the other three as well. My advice, you might want to broaden your search to more target schools.

@Arushi216 I realise the hyper competitive nature of admissions, especially for international students. I just particularly like these schools and if not there, then I would rather save my money and study in a good college in India itself. At least, that’s the plan. If you don’t mind, what are your stats?

Why do you like these schools? How well do you know these universities and their communities? Did you just go according to a list?
These schools pick the best students according to being the best students in their countries. @Arushi216 was spot on in his description.

I’ve noticed a trend with students from India in that each person believes that he/she is the best because he/she has a couple of regional awards. That’s not who these universities select. You must have international recognition to even have a chance at a school like Harvard. You are competing with the thousands of students from India who believe they are the best.

Students who get in have international acclaim like Malala, Olympic athletes, celebrities. Do you have that? If not, you need to pick schools that are not on the top 20 list. If you need financial aid, all bets are off.

I agree with you. I don’t have any awards with international acclaim and perhaps it is just a far fetched dream to even apply to these schools. However, I think I am going to take a chance anyway. Even if I am rejected, I at least want the satisfaction of having applied in the first place.

@HariniMehrotra My stats are pretty decent:
ACT: 35/36
Class Rank: 1/150 all 4 years
Class 9: 10 CGPA
Class 10: 99.0% in Boards with 100 in Math, Science, Social Science (Highest/2nd highest in Delhi)
Class 11: 98% (Highest in school history)
Class 12 Mid-terms: 97.6%

But most applicants from India would have these stats. What would really make you stand out are your ECs, awards, and essays.

@Arushi216 What all colleges have you applied to? Best of luck.

What’s the chance for Brown. I’ve applied there under RD.

PS- Got into CS at UIUC

Hi anyone received any interview from any university?

@maddy09 Had interviews with Princeton (EA) and Dartmouth (RD). No luck, so far, with Brown, Duke, Harvard, MIT, Northwestern, Penn or Yale.
