Yale/Harvard w strong academics?

“Their reputation” is what they aim to foster and protect, by choosing the most able (again, academically and socially.) It’s not a reason they would be inclined to take a lower match over a higher one.

Hopkins, UCB, UVA?? How have you done your research? They are not matches. They are hard to get into, in the first place. Berkely is overwhelmed by apps (and from tippy top performers in CA.) VA is primarily concerned with instate kids, geo diversity in-state, and dealing with the mass of super qualified kids from northern VA.

The kids who get in to certain colleges with a 32 have to have a lot going for them- lots of the markers. You have to realize they did more than run a club and have some hobbies. And, sorry, but they have a level of thinking that pushes them to do more and know more.

Please remember, this is not about what a kid wants (all that does is create a list.) This is about the adcoms’ choice to admit or not. You have some work ahead of you. Rethink early apps.
