Yale Interview for SCEA

Does Yale offer alumni interviews to all SCEA applicants? I live in one of the most populated cities in the U.S. where there are hundreds of alumni for sure, so I know that there will be availability. If so, will the interviews be conducted in early-mid November?

An interview is not a required part of the application process, but we encourage you to meet and talk with a Yale alumnus/a or student interviewer when possible.

The Yale Alumni Schools Committee (ASC) will not contact you for an alumni interview until after you have submitted your admissions applications to Yale. Please note that in the fall, the ASC schedules Single-Choice Early Action interviews before Regular Decision interviews. Interviews can take place in-person or via web-based video chat. In some regions, the number of applicants exceeds the number of interviews available. Interviews will be offered on a space-available basis to as many applicants as possible, but applicants may not request an alumni interview.

Students applying in the SCEA round are generally contacted via email and are interviewed between November 1st and the first week of December.

Interviews are conducted by volunteers and sometimes (even in large cities) not enough alumni step forward, so not all applicants in the SCEA or RD round are interviewed.
