Yale Interview - What should I expect?

Hey guys,

So I applied to Yale Early Action and got contacted for my interview. I'm an international. I know that the interview is completely subjective and depends entirely on the interviewer and the interviewee but does anyone here have any experience with alumni interviews that they could share? Any general questions that I should be expecting?

Thanks!

Here’s a long thread

Thank you, T26E4! I should have looked carefully before posting this.

If anyone is reading this - just thought I’d share my first hand experience. I had my interview yesterday and it was really, really chilled out. She was extremely humble and it was a very casual conversation. She mainly asked me to begin by describing myself - just to give her an overview of the kind of person I am. She answered my questions about Yale with enthusiasm and honesty. She took notes as I spoke. She picked up on all the extracurriculars I mentioned and asked friendly questions about them. She had a sense of humor which was great and honestly took off the pressure because I wasn’t intimidated at all and felt at ease around her. A few of the “General Interview” questions she asked me: How would your friends describe you? What would you change about your school, if given the option? What was the most challenging part of school? Describe a person in your life that inspires you.

That’s pretty much it. It was a good conversation. She even gave me room to tell her anything else that I wanted to add to my application that I hadn’t highlighted already.
