I have an on-campus interview at Yale... do I wear my favorite women's suit or what else would anyone recommend I wear?

I am guessing you are an athlete? Suit is fine.

Nice casual will be fine as well. A full suit is not necessary.

Nope not an athlete but I always wear suits for presentations and I think I’ll stick to it so thanks!

That is so excessive… Remember that on-campus interviews are done by students. They’re not going to want you to be wearing suits. (Seriously, we’re 21y/o… and yes everyone does make fun of the prefrosh wearing suits behind your backs. Sry)

Back in the day (3 years ago), I went with the casual end of business casual (blouse + non-suit skirt + peep-toe heels), which I guess is equivalent to shirt + khaki no tie for men, and it was fine.

I agree that “business casual” is the best bet.

I ended up wearing gray pants and a suit jacket with a nice shirt - all 4 of us dressed professional and even people on the tour dressed up nice so maybe times have changed in 3 years.

So what was the interview like? Did they ask you a lot of questions, just let you talk, or tell you about Yale? I assume a combination of the three?

It was reminiscent of a business conversation; it definitely went back and forth but was not quite casual. On the same token it wasn’t just the interviewer grilling me with questions and taking notes on my answers… actually she didn’t even have a pencil/pad. On the whole it was very pleasant.

That’s good to hear. I have my interview next week and I’m going to think of some things I’d like to know as well as what I’d like to get across about myself. I guess it also depends on what kind of student you get as your interviewer.
