Yale, is it even possible?

Please, please read this post I know it is excessively long put preserver please!

This is of course a desperate plea by a Yale-hopeful for someone anyone (but preferably someone knowledgeable to assess my chances.)

Now a few extenuating circumstances: I am hoping to be a transfer student …from a community college (I know you‘re already cringing but read on.) This will be my freshman year and I am possibly going to apply for the fall of next year. Now the second thing you should know is that my life has played out ….well lets put it this way, if my life was a movie you would not even begin to believe it…(deaths, suicide, foreclosure of homes, extreme illness) ..it started out practically charmed and then ….it’s been bad and wonderful but I digress. The second thing you should know is that I am very bright and consumed by intellectual curiosity (not to brag, just to inform). (I hate to do this repetitive list thing to you the whole way but…) The third bit to know is that my high school grades have been less than stellar (not horrible but certainly not ivy league material) Now my senior year grades were very good (Considering I had to start and finish a year of classes in a three week period)I had to take my senior year online but I received final grades of 97-100, mostly the latter. Anyway as you may be able to tell I am basically self taught, and I’ve enjoyed it. My extracurricular are slim but I taught my self ASL(American Sign Language) and French to a point of practical fluency, learned the violin(not to an orchestra level but entertain myself), also because I was absent constantly (and attended four different high schools) I taught myself basically everything else (so I am fully aware and fully confident in my abilities to succeed this year). And now that things have finally calmed down and I will finally have time to focus on my academic goals. Ok time for stats(ish)

I received 4s on my US History, World History, Government and English IV exams (without studying But I don‘t know if I should include these scores or not)
I plan to start a school newspaper (on which I will appoint myself editor)
I am working at a bookstore (I have worked off and on but not through out high school)
I am a fantastic artist (again sorry for the self praise)
I am fully capable of writing a great admissions essay (a fact which is not plain judging by the literary stylings of this post)
Now I have yet to take any SAT or SAT Subject Tests but I will be taking Math II, Biology, French, US History, World History, Literature and Math I (if that is also necessary). Now while I have not taken these I have taken practice test and without study I received a 1950 SAT and a minimum of a 770 on my subject tests (if this means anything)
I will add any other extra curricular to this list (I am a great debater, I could add that, and I used to dance)

I will be taking World Literature, College Algebra, Biology and Composition I this year (highest course levels offered and I tried to get into more classes but none were available in my time slots)

I know I must sound like a crazy person on so many different levels but some advice or an assessment of my chances would be so helpful and appreciated! (I can assure you I‘m not I just sound like it on paper)

(There is a lot more to say about me but I will end it here…but feel free to ask)

Oh! By the way I am a white female (if that helps in anyway)

I also volunteered for a church relief center basically every weekend of my junior year and tutored 3 kids for part of my senior year. I have no idea what my final High school GPA is (I have yet to recieved my papers and diploma from my school)

Word of advice. One, if you are looking to get chanced, format your info. No one wants to read through a block of text. Two, try posting your info on the chances thread. Third, I found that one of the best ways to “chance” yourself is to compare yourself to the students who got accepted on the Yale RD thread.

Also, like it says in Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy “DON’T PANIC!” Relax, you’re freaking out over nothing.

One last thing. If you don’t have any standardized test scores or GPA/Rank, don’t even try getting chanced.

Search for older threads about transferring to Yale. It’s even harder than getting in than as a senior in high school–a big, big reach for anyone.

Most get in from four year colleges. I have never heard of anyone being accepted from community college.

Using the Search function for ‘transfer’ on the Y forum yields much valuable information:

2300+ is what you need in the way of an SAT score. What is your hs GPA?
