Hey fellow CC'ers...

I'm attending the Yale 2006 JSA summer program and on the packet it said... that Yale dorms wouldn't have AC and that QUOTE "the wiring in the rooms don't allow AC".

So a few questions. A) Can i bring an AC and assume they are just lying to me?
B) How HOT does it get during July?
C) Anything FUN to do off-campus?
D) Will getting a transcript for AP Gov't from Yale JSA help for admissions toward Yale?

Please respond, and if you had done JSA summer programs before- how was it? Thx~~

a- no, Yale doesn't like fire hazards. some windows won't even allow an AC.
b- first weeks of september were bad, if that helps
c- heck yes, New Haven is fun to explore, preferably in groups
d- dunno

no ACs makes sense, Yale is old. and the dorms are made to house us during the fall, winter, and early spring. the heaters are nice and toasty? lol

Sons room as a freshman on OC would definitely NOT be able to handle any type of a/c in it's windows, they turn out and oddly shaped. Try putting a/c's in these types of windows:

Best thing is to buy a fan or two, or one of those Swamp Coolers.

My S loves going to NYC or Boston when he has some free time.

Buy/bring a fan.

If you're into current music, Toad's Place (all genres represented) is a very short walk from Old Campus. http://www.toadsplace.com/ has a calendar of bands/artists that will be playing there.

There's a Starbucks right next to Old Campus which will be helpful after late nights/early mornings.

Don't venture too far away from campus.

A simple transcript probably won't help with admissions. If the class has a profound impact and you write about it in an essay, it could help.
