Only a matter of time before Stanford cracks the HYP dominance at the top! The WSJ would be shocked!

Calm down Byerly - the point remains that this year's score in the combined Marshall-Rhodes game was Yale 8, Harvard 1.

And Yale has bested Harvard in many other recent years, too, especially once you consider that it has a much smaller enrollment.

Harvard certainly has a smaller enrollment (6,600) than Yale (5,300) and Princeton (4,700) combined.

umm... can we say p issing contest? I really don't think the number of rhodes or marshall scholars is really a good measure for how good a school is... people also get marshall and rhodes from state schools as well.

Some people say Yale attracts upper-class smart students, while Harvard attracts middle and lower income smart students. That is one reason why Harvard needs to give out more financial aids. Is this true? Is there any proof to this theory?

Maybe start a new thread rather than appending to an almost five year old thread?

As for marketing, both schools do exceedingly well across the spectrum. Yale has about consistently 65% of its undergrads receiving some sort of FA. I dunno the Harvard numbers.
