I can't give up on Yale...

If that is God's will you are going to have to give up!

martinibluex, where'd you get the 20 days? Did they give us a decision date?

File complete :) Yale was a toughie.

Yale's decisions are received in the mail by May 8-9 every year. Letters leave the office the first week of May; I believe on Monday.

Harvard releases decisions between May 15 and May 18.

These two never change.

I think I'll be withdrawing. They lost my faculty recs, and I think it's too late to ask for ones again now.

Atanas, do not succumb to despair. Your professors probably still have the files on their computer... I asked mine to keep copies as well...

They probably do have them, but I do not feel like asking them. I'll just let it go. Chances were slim anyway.

im a freshman at yale. I was also invited for an interview last year. I trnsferd from Dartmouth. Invitation interviews are not used for admission. they are used to make the applicant to get to know the college. if she's been invited, its a good sign. i will go to the extent of saying that she's probably in. i never attended my transfer interview. i had a big final around that time and told them about it. i did however go for a campus tour after receiving the admission letter in the second week of may and met some admissions

YFL - are you referring to my comment ?

she's in................................................

It's a guy....and i wouldn't doubt it...he is absolutely brilliant.

Btw. do all transfers at yale have to stay for 4 years or is there a way to graduate in 3. I have been told that they have a policy that incoming transfers become freshman, but does that still mean they have to graduate with the all the incoming freshman?

he is. yale transfer is no joke. there is no policy that i know offf. but yes, i did have to repeat first year. the biggest reason that i chose to come, was that i got a very good scholarship, whch made it cheaper for me to attend yale than even dartmouth. it is not so much the courses but the time spent at yale that they want. do warn him about the course load. i am working on a 15 pg paper, that is taking forever. dartmouth was a breeze as compared to this.

What? All transfers have to start as freshmen? Why do they fail to mention this anywhere? I applied and I'm a sophomore right now, so I can be pretty sure that I won't be getting in then, right/

From the Yale application: "To be eligible to transfer, you must, by June of the current academic year, have a high school diploma or GED, and at least one year and no more than two years of transferable post-secondary-school college credit."...
..."Transfer students enter either the sophomore or junior year and must enroll at Yale for a minimum of two years (four terms) in order to qualify for the B.A.or B.S.degree."
But then they also say this (?): "Work done after graduation from secondary school and before matriculation at Yale may be accepted(to a maximum of two credits) on recommendation from the appropriate director of undergraduate studies."

as mentioned, its not by policy. its probably a case-by-case thing. u have to apply as transfer only, but your status in the college will be that of a freshman ie, in your first year of study. for me, unfortunately, i will be soph next fall., meaning it will take at least 3 more years for me to graduate. but that is also because the course structure at dartmouth is different from that at yale. and for that reason, the courses i had taken did not apply towards my degree at yale as core classes.

Might i also remind everyone, that Yale transfer admission is probably one of the hardest to get. statistically too, it has an admit rate of under 6% for transfers.
so, dont be disheartened if you dont make the cut, hardly anyone does! mentally tune yourselves for a no. that way, you can reduce the dissapointment later. i apologise for the gloomy view, but its nothing but the truth.

some of you might make it, and in that case, those 'some' of you are probably absolutely brilliant. (OFancy - this goes for your friend too).

and as for the others, remember, it was always an uphill climb. and for those of you who have an undying hunger to become a yalie can give it another shot next year.

all the best to everyone

Does anyone know if acceptances will be coming in big envelopes?

yes it is.. but what does it matter? 10 second's later you are going to know anyhow.

In addition to these big or small envelopes, will yale be emailing or posting decisions online...or is this just for freshman admissions?

no e-mail, no posting.
