Yale-NUS Class of 2018

International students make 1/3 rd of the class…

@amoeboid6

I’m an international, I had an interview and got deferred, though I was rejected early at Harvard. It’s really difficult to predict something here. And I guess for internationals it all depends on their country. For example, there is only 1 student from Russia in Yale-NUS now, and 2 applied this year, as far as I know, while there are dozens of applicants from some Asian countries. What I’m trying to say here is that with only 175 students to be enrolled, diversity really means something, and the more applicants from the same country there are, the more difficult it is for them to get into.

MIT is great, I wish you all the best.

@amoeboid6. MIT is great!! you wont regret going there…Admission these days is nearly random, many perfect SAT students and exceptional extracurricular activities…eh, congrats on MIT…its great

Thank you all so much, it’s good to know that I’m not the only one! I was really hoping for Yale-NUS but of course MIT is amazing, still hoping for Yale though!

@KatherynP …that actually makes a lot of sense! I am from India and @HarryJiang is from China, 2 countries from which Yale NUS would obviously have a lot of admitted students last year and applicants this year…

Amoeboid6 …are you planning to major in something STEM related? Or something else?

I don’t even think it’s a question. People from East Asia have it hard everywhere, just so many great applicants. I know about three good applicants from my country total.

@Conscience13 Not sure, either Econ or a STEM field

Accepted! @conscience13, did you get in ? i am from India as well!

Congrats @burtmacklin …nope…I didn’t get in…outright rejection :(

@marti1295

I checked with the Director of Admissions and she said it’s for anyone admitted, no strings. In other words, see you there!

Anyone else going?

Rejected. No interview.

@TrinidadJames22,

Thank you so, so much!! You’re awesome :smiley: I was just going to write an email and ask about that…Of course, we’ll see there. I am looking forward to the visit! :)

I got accepted!

So, is there anyone on here who is considering premed? Also, is it true that would be harder to get into med with a Yale-NUS degree cuz it will be considered “foreign”?! Anyone have any clue?

Congrats to you all :D

oh and @TrinidadJames22 and @marti1295 If all goes well, I’ll hopefully see you there in the weekend!

The best place to ask this is on the Premed Topics forum.

@entomom yeah I suppose, but I meant anyone accepted to Yale-NUS.

Sorry, I cited the first question because it gives the context of premed, my response was to the last two questions.

The reason I suggested you to ask on the Premed Topics forum is because there are many experienced and knowledgeable physicians and current med students there vs. mostly HS srs here. Whether Y-NUS would be considered a foreign UG college, domestic, or a hybrid of some sort is a critical question for future med school admissions.

Does anyone know when accepted students hear back on financial aid and scholarships?

Just got offered an interview! any tips or suggestions form those who got accepted??
Thank you!
