Yale-NUS Class of 2021

@rvytyyy My interviewer was super-sweet, made me feel really comfortable

@rvytyyy Skype

@inertia245 did u apply for yale also. If yes did u get yale interview

@USUG21 I didn’t apply to Yale

@inertia245 Thanks!

Anyone did the interview on campus? :smiley:

@USUG21 I did not apply to Yale. @rvytyyy I had my interview on Skype. I guess when you’re interviewed by a student it makes you feel more comfortable since you know they were in your place a few years ago and you can ask them questions about the student life.

@DEEPUSS may be they r not interviewing yale applicants. I had my yale interview.

@DEEPUSS I see! Thank u:)

Well whatever it is hope it will all work well. Yale NUS is one of my top colleges. Hope I get to see you all there but really nervous for decisions :((

Hey all, I’ve been reading this thread for the past month but just didn’t bother to sign up till now. I am an international applicant from Korean, but I have not yet received the interview invitation :o. Is it true that only short-listed candidates are interviewed? And for those who have already done the interview: are there any current yale-nus students who got in without having done the interview? I’m a little worried…

@rvytyyy it was on Skype! I am a US citizen living outside America.

@rvytyyy When you’re interviewed by an admissions counselor, they usually know a bit about you and ask “tailor-made” questions based on your circumstances. I think this makes the experience a little bit more comfortable as you don’t need to answer the typical “introduce yourself” question which may be a bit awkward. Also, questions asked by admissions officers always have a purpose and are worthwhile. There’s also that sense of assurance that your answers and thoughts will be communicated directly to the admissions committee without any filtration, which is a plus.

Hope this helps!

@Gen49812 Yes, only shortlisted applicants are interviewed, and only interviewed applicants are subsequently admitted.

Hey guys, I had my interview Feb 5 and applied through my Yale application. I am Canadian.

4.0 Unweighted GPA
Class ranks not available in my school

SAT I 1540
Math 2 800
Physics 790

5’s on AP Compsci, Physics 1, Statistics, Macroeconomics, self-studied stats and compsci

Taking AP Calc BC, Physics 2, Eng Lit, French, Chemistry this year

Provincial Basketball Champion
USA Computing Olympiads (don’t think I can actually compete cuz of my nationality)
Canadian Mathematics Olympiads
3rd Place Economics FBLA
Model UN

Math Club

I think the weakest part of my application is the lack of internships or relevant experiences related to my concentration which is Computer Science.

Anyone else wanna share?

@tommakesfilms Thanks for sharing! That’s very helpful! Best of luck:))

Is Yale-NUS still shortlisting candidates? I’m worried because I’ve not heard anything and it’s already 4 weeks.

@golddigger9 I’m not sure about whether they are still short-listing but when I was registering for the Skype interviews, the last day for interviews was around mid Feb so maybe it’s still an ongoing process?

Has anybody talked to their interviewer about when decisions will be out? My interviewer told be late-February to early-March, but I saw someone on this thread say late-March or early-April. I’m so nervous about decisions!!

@alwayslate17 did u talk to an admissions officer or a student? The admissions officer I talked to said early April too so…
