@RayLiSingapore whoops, sorry about the heart attack! didn’t mean to haha…I’d edit the post rn if I could but I’m on mobile and can’t figure out how to for the life of me
and regarding eyw, I have no idea man…I’m thinking that exact same thing ?? none of this is making sense. Do you think their response to my friend was just a generic response ?
Nah wahaha small heart attacks and adrenaline are the little things in life right ((x
Hnmm you really really don’t have to (But for future reference) if you’re on mobile it’s the settings like button on the top right of each of your posts. Right beside the #200 etc.
We’re thinking the same thing I guess
They’re sending out generic replies perhaps because the waitlisted people would know by latest 1st April (Need to wait for the others to decide before waitlisted gets the turn)
1.5) They have to put a date further than the actual release date in case of any system errors or human errors leading to delay in the release date. That’s probably why they say “BY” April 1st instead of on. Also the previous year got the decisions by March 20+ right o:
Decision is still really only out on 1st April but the EYW page up on YNC website is just a temp placeholder the planning community put up first. Perhaps just for temporary purposes or smth.
But I doubt (2) makes sense cause I opened up the EYW schedule and all looks pretty legit already… I think it’s really (1)/(1.5)
@achilleees I think that’s their general response to everyone. If they were to release the decision early April, and the EYW is the following weekend, I don’t think they will get a good turnout from the international students ahah
@RayLiSingapore 1) yeap I was more or less thinking the same, but didn’t they release all the admission results (whether you were waitlisted or accepted) on the same date last year? it wasn’t that those who were accepted got informed earlier and those who were waitlisted got informed afterwards, right?
1.5) in my friend’s email they specifically stated that they will respond “IN early April” not by early April, which is what worried me…
this might be the case…because if you check the website, it’s still quite a mess in that there’s some info from last year on there, so it’s not like the website has been completely refurbished and updated with all new information…except @sghkg8 has a confirmed source in ync saying eyw will be held from 13-15th April, so that’s not adding up
Just have to say how much I enjoy following this thread! You all are great and express many of my unspoken thoughts and theories. Like you, we are waiting here with baited breadth hoping notifications come out this week. We have also signed up for informed delivery of TNT packages (on a suggestion made in this thread). I will post if anything is coming from Singapore… We are seriously cheering for each of you. I will be so excited for my Daughter if she is accepted as she has worked so hard to get to this point. However, as a mother, its hard not to focus on how far Singapore is from Boston! But this is her top choice and I will support her wherever she decides to go. Fingers crossed that we all meet in April at EYW. For now here is a bit of motherly advise - get some sleep!
I have a source (reliable but not specific)
It’s should definitely be earlier than April 1st / 29th March, but that’s really all I could gather, sorry everyone T. T
@RayLiSingapore no worries, thanks for updating us! I’m just confused how they’re gonna inform international students in time if they’re going to release decisions in early April but still have eyw in the 2nd week of April…I guess we’ll find out soon haha
either way I’m going to take @Scrambled88’s advice and go to bed rn HAHAHA :))
This is ridiculous. How are we supposed to plan for an international trip (US kids are literally going to the other side of the world) with 2.5 weeks notice?
-If its possible to be before April 1st
-But not this week or next
That puts the range from 26th March (Mon) to 30 March (Fri)
Oddly 1st April is a Sunday so doubtful they’d send it on a Sunday too
Im expecting 26th to 30th now
I suspect that the EYW deadline of 29th March is really a placeholder date, like the point (2) discussed above they probably shift it! @Changi17 but EYW is a 3 day trip (Flight and accommodation covered) Would that be reasonable though?
It’s reasonable. But one (or both) of my parents would like to accompany me (lots of international parents go to EYW) and I just think it’s a very difficult position to have to book last minute flights to Singapore
Yikes. I agree they really need more time for international families to schedule. Which is why I think they have at least posted the dates for the EYW. It takes approximately 28 hours of travel time to get to Singapore from here. So it’s not just the weekend for us. My D has travel planned every other week in April so we are relieved that the only weekend that is even remotely possible to attend was selected for the EYW! But we need time to organize for this kind of trip. My bet is that they announce by the 23rd at the latest.
Stalked the previous years CC forum,
They went through the exact same stuff as us xD They even signed p for EYW early March. Guess thats why they closed sign ups this year until the decision is actually out.
–2017–
Round 1
Deadline for EYW signups were on (5th April )
EYW itself for Round 1 2017 (21st April - 23rd April)
First emails that went out (NOT decision) But saying that decisions would be out soon
or TnT mail incoming (21st March)
Email asking to check decisions on the portal, applicants confirming they got in (23rd March)
Ok guys will y’all pls stop stressing out?? What are y’all seriously gonna gain by knowing when the results are going to be released? Less stress?? A greater chance maybe? Nothing! If anything it’s gonna increase your stress. Yale-NUS is not gonna tell you you’re accepted and then say oh by the way EYW is in a week. Not working in the admissions or anything but pls the college is very very very understanding and will never ever do something like that! Pls stop fretting! I know it’s a tough period. I’ve been through it before! But knowing when results are going to be released will do you no Good! And raising anxiety by speculation is not gonna help! So pls chill y’all!! Ok sorry if my tone was harsh or angry! To make this less weird I’m gonna type out a random phrase: chocolate covered strawberries!!
