Anyone received the interview invitation for round 1?

I got an email saying that I was shorlisted. I don’t even know what that means, but I am having an interview today.

When did you receive the email? I guess I have no chance already as I haven’t receive any email. But it’s OK. Applying for Yale-NUS is just my daring try. Good luck for your application. :)

I got it like a week and a half ago. Did you also apply to Yale?

And Thank you.

No. I didn’t apply to Yale. I’m actually a quite average student in my school. I know I’m not up to Yale or Yale-NUS standard. I just don’t want myself to have any regret if I do not give it a try. I really like the courses Yale-NUS offered.

How is anyone getting updates from NUS? I haven’t heard anything yet…

I received an invite today too:) im in Vietnam so i’ll have to interview via Skype:( anyone like me, having to talk over the internet?

“If you applied in Round 1, you will hear back from us either on or before 15 Dec 2012.”
[After you’ve applied to Yale-NUS…](http://www.yale-nus.edu.sg/index.php/apply/after-you-ve-applied-to-yale-nus.html)

Approximately how long is the skype interview?
I just received an invite today. I don’t want to skip school to do it. So I’m considering having it at 7am before going to school but I don’t want to be late either.

Since they offer interview slots every hour from 9am to 3pm singapore time, i guess each interview takes about 30-45 mins. That’s the average period for other us schools’ interviews that I had too.

When is the deadline for interview notification?

lol JUST got the invitation for an interview… it’s scheduled for less than a week before the decision date… why even interview me at this point?

Because that means that they actually consider you a good fit and you might get in? Haha.

Hahah I was thinking it’s just a formality and my app is already in the shredder, but thank you CantConcentrate for the positive outlook :)

I read somewhere on the website they’ll notify people for interview up until December 10!

Does every applicant get an interview? Or does it depend on who’s available in your area and/or who is available to skype?

For Yale, it depends on what alumni are available in your area to interview.

For Yale-NUS, read this:
“Will every applicant be interviewed?
Due to the volume of applications received, we are only able to offer interviews to shortlisted applicants. After you have submitted your complete application to Yale-NUS, your application will be read by a member of the Admissions team and we will get in touch with you if we feel that you might be a good fit for Yale-NUS. Once you are offered an interview, it becomes a required part of the application process to the College.”

So, I can say with slight confidence that an interview offer from NUS means more than one from Yale itself in terms of how you fall in the applicant pool.

I had mine on 27th Dec. The first thing my interviewer said to me was, “If you get an interview, that means your application is really interesting and we would like to know more about you” =)

Don’t you mean November 27th? ;)

I’m just trying to figure out if being selected for an interview at NUS says anything about the relative strength of one’s application at Yale itself.

The two admissions processes are completely different and don’t even happen in the same country, so I don’t think so. Yale-NUS simply receives your forwarded Yale supplement-- but from there, the two schools don’t talk to each other.
