Around how many applicants get shortlisted? Congrats to those who received their notifications…still hoping for one myself [-O<
I asked admissions on the online chat, and they said that about 15-20% of applicants get shortlisted. They’ll allegedly continue sending out invites through February, so sit tight!
They sent me an email today letting me know that I was shortlisted! :’) In the email though it said that “An interview is vital to the admissions process and required if you wish to be considered for admission. Don’t miss this opportunity to tell us more about yourself and ask questions about the Yale-NUS experience.” Hmmm…
Guys, how does it look like with the financial aid for internationals there?
I simply don’t get the idea on their website. Are low income students provided with full aid?
what kinds of questions do they ask? I’m having my interview in a few days
Hey guys! Congratulations to all those who have received an interview offer. I did not get one yet. Does anybody know till what time they send interview notifications? Does not getting one mean you are out?
Edit: I am an international applicant with financial need from India. Applied by ticking yale-nus on yale common app.
Just had my interview! I loved it (as much as you can love an interview at least…). If anybody has any questions about the experience, feel free to ask!
@bsb4389 what types of questions were you asked?
@binatang It’s hard because I feel like a lot of the questions were specific to the conversation… Very conversational in that manner. But I’d say most of the questions were kind of frivolous, theoretical “thought-provokers” about “what would you do if…”, without any general questions about extracurriculars or academics. I’d say the best way to prepare is to not prepare and be your (honest)! The interviewer seemed more interested in how I thought, not necessarily what I thought (if that makes sense). I know that doesn’t really clear a lot up, but believe me I don’t think there’s any way to really prepare for it!
@bsb4389 alright, thanks so much! I have mine tomorrow, hoping it goes well! I really wanna go to the experience yale-nus weekend…
@binatang Me too! I hope your interview goes well! Good luck!
Does anyone know what percentage of shortlisted applicants get accepted?
just had my interview! went OK, not sure if he was satisfied with some of my answers
@binatang: what questions were asked?
My daughter received her email for a skype interview this morning. She too clicked the box on common app. She has her Yale interview on Friday as well. I did not even realize that she had applied. Just how selective is this process and is it true that only 15% that apply are granted an interview? My stomach aches over the thought of her going so far away for school but if it is an exclusive opportunity I might feel better about it.
@BetterThanBest
Mostly like your background, your academic background, extracurriculars
Typical questions, a short half hour interview
Also some Questions described in post #28
anyone know how long round 2 interviews are going until? in other words, should i just assume that i’m not getting in b/c i haven’t gotten my interview yet? (applied back in dec for yale + checked the box, sent in my yale-nus supp 1/15)
I think the interviews got over on February 9? @nerdforlifee12
@nerdforlifee12 I am in the same boat as you. We are probably rejected bro. No interview = rejection for yale nus. I guess they don’t want to admit students who will mess up their yield by rejecting their admission offer.
I got my interview on Feb 7. The timing was a bit weird… it was the day after my counsellor sent an optional report with significantly improved grades.
