Yale-NUS (Singapore) Results

Someone suggested posting on the other thread for Yale-NUS, so I figured we should go ahead and make a results stats thread specifically for Yale-NUS. (Since admissions are different.)

So yeah…

One cliche topic turned into something interesting (I wasn’t satisfied; I left wanting more.) and one unique topic (death of a teacher.) I’m also a pretty great writer, if I do say so myself…
Recommendations (rating 1-10, details): 8/10? IDK
Teacher Rec #1: Biology - Probably very good, seemed last minute, but a good writer and speaks to a subject that I have interest in but no clear demonstration of strength outside the classroom
Teacher Rec #2: English Language - “It was easy to write and I was happy to do it” Of course, a great writer, and she LOVES me.
Counselor Rec: Very typical, strongly postive
Additional Rec: N/A
Interview: She seemed to love me! I really enjoyed the interview, which says a lot. We had an interesting discussion about Nepal and what I want to do with my career, and she really helped me picture myself at the school. We talked about my interest in doing studies on how culture impacts medicine, Haruki Murakami, Donald Trump…

Reflection

Strengths: Essays, Extracurriculars, GPA, interview, overall character
Weaknesses: SAT, awards
Why you think you were accepted: From my interview and essays, it was clear I could easily find my place at Yale-NUS. I have the academic strength, but I also have the intellectual vitality and motivation to make a difference in the world. It’s clear my focus is global, and I think that’s part of what they’re looking for.
Where else were you accepted: None yet! (Waiting for Yale Tuesday… GOING TO BE SO HARD TO CHOOSE.)

General Comments :
I was super excited to find out! All of my relatives are sending me messages saying “Mazel Tov!” lol
I just want to say that you should apply to the schools you want to go to, regardless of what you perceive to be your strengths and weaknesses, so long as you are in a realistic range. I honestly thought I was WAY out of my depth when applying. But I’m so happy to have been accepted, and I would not have been accepted if I didn’t decide to give it a shot.
