YALE or Princeton

Wow! What a thread.

Yes, upperclass boys hitting on new girls in theory leaves a lot of frigid upperclasswomen looking for incoming boys, but let's not kid ourselves - is it really like this?

this sounds like an "Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer" thread

no, probably not.... the graduate students probably get the uperclasswomen... (btw, Yale has a lot more graduate students)

so who gets the graduate girls? (waiting for stupid answer)

seriously now, isn't it the same thing in high school? Probably the same thing in Yale? Where did you get that info? I doubt that should be a factor.

From a social interaction viewpoint the question I am still looking to have answered is, why is the marriage rate among Princetonians so high?

princeton princeton princeton princeton!

Hmm..
I'm going to be applying to Princeton, Yale, and Stanford next year, and I hope to be in this "awful" position! (haha...)

Both campuses are so unique and the experience at each university so different...I really do not know where to go.

I'm into math and science, but I want a good liberal arts education as well (hence MIT or Caltech aren't my top choices, although I could hypothetically cross-register classes at Harvard via MIT..).

I therefore like the academics more at Princeton since they are known for their physics and math, but I like Yale's campus and atmosphere a bit more.

Hmm...I know you cannot substitute great academics for anything, but still...the Yale atmosphere is more fitting to my lifestyle.

Anyone in this odd position (with regard to favoring academics at one school, yet favoring the campus/atmosphere at another)???

Can you say more about how the Yale "atmosphere" seems to suit you better?

Originally, I had decided to apply to both Yale and Princeton but decided not to apply to Princeton after visiting the campus. I was applying as undecided and still think that Yale and Princeton are equal academically, but I did not like the atmosphere of Princeton. First off, when I entered the student center, very few of the students were smiling (/seemed happy) and, when i asked someone for directions to where the admissions tours start, they seemed extremely bothered and unfriendly. Personally, I like the way that Yale's campus is organized better, the way that the buildings flow together, and especially their residential college system. Yale just was more appealing to me in the end.
I'm sure that I could have just been at Princeton on an "off" day but Yale students seemed to be much more friendly and happy when I visited there. It was more of an environement that I would personally want to be in.

I'd have chosen Yale in this situation because of the upperclass residential colleges, but you CANNOT CANNOT possibly go wrong here...just visit and then go with your gut.
